Sokka (the one in red silk) is in the Cooper house's kitchen.

Sokka has been there most of the time, except when he wasn't.

Sokka is likely to remain there.

Also? He has mostly disassembled the toaster.

Nobody told him not to!

Considering Mr. Muggles is right now sniffing at the toaster suspiciously while Claire gets him some water?

"Probably not," she says. "Can you put it back together?"

"Course I can." Sokka looks confident -- and for once actually is. "I made sure I knew where all the bits went. It's just all REALLY INTERESTING!"

"Stop that," Claire says to the dog, nudging him aside from the components as she sets the water down for him.

"It's a toaster," she tells Sokka as if that should cease all interest at once. But still, she's sitting down next to Sokka and look at what he's done. "You really are into this stuff, huh?"

"We don't have anything like this on my world," he explains, looking up to grin at her and surreptitiously yanking a resistor away from the dog. "But we will when I get back!"

Claire pushes the dog again and he occupies himself with the water instead.

"You're going to remember this stuff, really? How are you going to power it?"

"Pffff, details, details!" Sokka grins at her. "Maybe I'll just capture Firebenders to do it for me."

"Like, slavery?"

Claire glances at him quickly. "You'd better be kidding."

"Sure, I'm kidding," Sokka promises immediately. With a smirk. "I'd never do that to Firebenders. It's not like they're all EVIL IN HUMAN FORM or anything."

"Well, good," Claire says, returning the smirk a little warily. "Cause y'know, I think technically my bio-mom is one."

Sokka blinks at her, straightening up from the toaster fully for the first time.

"...you're a Firebender? I mean, half?"

DISTRUST.

Claire gives him a dry look.

"No," she says. "I heal, remember? And my bio-dad flies and my bio-momsets things on fire and my uncle could do pretty much anything. Powers are all kind of random on my world."

Sokka nods slowly, distrust fading into apology.

"Hey, wanna see something cool?"

"Cool like 'hey, I can make things float', or cool like 'I dismantled the kettle'?"

She's grinning though. That's a yes.

Sokka beams at her, and holds up a handful of parts. "Cool like I can make an e-lec-tric spark with the battery and these wires!"

Hey, it's cool if you're in kinder.

Or if you've never been exposed to electricity before.

Claire looks at the battery, then back at him.

And grins just a little bit.

"Just don't do it with the mains supply."

"What's a mains supply?" Sokka asks brightly.

Claire picks up the plug for the toaster and nods towards the nearest outlet.

"That's where most of the appliances get their power from. It'll shock you enough to kill you."

Sokka looks fascinated. "Think I can bring one of those home to my world too?"

"Well, no," Claire says helpfully. "It's hooked up to live wires underground to a big station that generates all the power for the area."

"Oooooh."

Beat.

"Can we go see?"

Claire, really, you should have expected that.

Claire laughs quickly.

"Well, I don't know where it is."

Still, she's thinking quickly. Field trip is an excuse to get out of here, anyway.

"You're not gonna let a little thing like that stop us, are you?"

Field trip! With pretty blonde girl! (Sokka is endlessly fascinated by the way people in this world have bizarre hair.)

Claire grins again.

"I guess we could find it. We could find where the wires come above ground and follow them."

Sokka looks out at the endless farmland hopefully, and then doubtfully.

"...it must be a long way away." Kansas is pretty flat. "Unless it's here in the farm!" Hopeful.

"It might be?" Claire says thoughtfully. "Some farms have their own generators, I guess."
