Sokka (the one in red silk) is in the Cooper house's kitchen.

Sokka has been there most of the time, except when he wasn't.

Sokka is likely to remain there.

Also? He has mostly disassembled the toaster.

Nobody told him not to!

Toph's got a great career ahead of her in providing emergency housing. And Jamie brought in beds! It was the most comfortable Sokka's slept since --- well, ever really. Mmm, soft mattresses.

"Thank you!" He beams at her. "I won't mess it up. Hey, did you know that box there, it gets really hot but you can't see the fire!"

Ovens: almost as exciting as refrigerators. Sokka is SHARING HIS GLEE.

"Oven," she says primly. "For baking."

"How does it work?"

EXPLAIN.

"Ask Gabriel."

Lucy doesn't really bother with these things. And Gabriel knows how things work!

:"Gabriel?"

Isn't he the one that made Claire cry? Sokka looks very suspicious.

Sniff.

Lucy tries and fails to sort out that tangled web of relations.

"...Why don't you like him?" she asks after a moment, puzzled.

"...I never said I didn't like him!"

Sokka looks shifty.

Sarcasmface.

She can wait for you to quit denying it and answer the question, Sokka.

Really she can.

Sulky!

"...he made Claire cry. And he kills people."

He didn't mean to put the priorities in that order, but he sort of did anyway.

"Never killed anyone," says Lucy with authority.

She knows what murder smells like.

Firsthand, one might say.

"Really? How do you know?"

"I can smell it."

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to mention how she knows the scent so definitively.

Sokka peers at her.

She just looks like a person.

But okay! It's her house and one doesn't insult one's hosts.

"That's cool. What else can you smell?"

Lucy beams slightly.

"All kinds of things!"

...Probably not a helpful answer, that, but at least she said more than three words in a row?

Sokka would agree!

"...can you smell ... anything?"

Is she some kind of SUPER NOSE?

"Almost."

Oooooooo.

"What do you smell on me?"

"Not being with your family," she says immediately. "And taking things apart, and putting them back together."

Sokka blinks at her, face locking up suddenly.

"...I did ask," he mutters.

SOKKA IS DISPLEASED. PLZ NOT TO BE KNOWING STUFF ABOUT HIS FAMILY!

"Don't worry, I promise I'll put everything back together just exactly how it was! Or better!" Bright-faced again. But not asking anything else about what she knows, because she's creepy and wrong >( >(

"I'm not with mine either," Lucy offers quietly. "My sisters all died when the world broke."

Oh.

Well, now she's not creepy and wrong, she's just someone who's lost their sister.

Sokka sort of knows how that feels and really, really hopes his Katara is somewhere and okay and not missing him too much and --

"...oh."

He's eloquent like that.

There is awkward shoulder-patting.

The smell of not-with-family is clear enough now for her to distinguish not-with-sister, and Lucy knows what that's like.

...At least Katara's not dead?

He hopes.

What do you say to someone-without-a-sister? Someone without multiple sisters?

Sokka flails mentally for a moment.

"...Do you want some toast? I can fix it up!"

That's... oddly sweet.

"I like toast," says Lucy shyly, accompanying this revelation with a tentative smile.

"I can make you toast!" WHIRLWIND OF ACTIVITY as he throws the toaster together.
