Things have spiralled wildly out of Katara's control. It seemed like such a good idea at the time - it really did.
But now?
It's all happened so fast and it's got so big. She doesn't know how to stop this. But people are getting hurt.
As long as Sokka doesn't find out ... things might be okay.
She's sitting out the front of the farmhouse, a huddled lump against a tree, tears tracking through the dust on her face. It's been a couple of days since she's washed or brushed her hair. Oddly enough, she's practically glowing with health.

Ditto is one accomplished little blob thing!
"Ditto!" it greets her cheerfully.

It looks juicy. It does occur to her to wonder ...
Thoughtfully, she flexes her fingers. They're still warm, still healthy.
No. No need.

...
BUT NO MATTER! She's trying! And she's getting there! HEY IT'LL HAVE HER SPEAKING POKEMON IN NO TIME.
Encouragingly: "Di di di! Ditto!" :D

SWEET SHE'S TOTALLY GETTING THE HANG OF THIS.
"Uh ... ditto."

Ditto quivers with glee, much like a large and adorable bowl of strawberry jello that's been poked.
"Ditto!" It's decided to try sounding out some words in the hopes that she will get them. "Diiiiiiitto. Di... to."
...of course, it's anyone's guess what the heck that actually means.

Plus, she doesn't actually care. It's just nice to have someone talk to her while she's pretty, instead of not meeting anyone until she ... needs them.

"To! To to!" it chirrups encouragingly, squelching towards her.

Katara kind of approves of this. She reaches out to pet its head, hesitantly, and tries very hard not to feel for the juicy, fresh, lifegiving water that's inside everything now.
Her bloodbending has come so far. Hama was right, she only needed to practice.
It's ...
... terrifying.
"To...?"

Its texture is, in a word, bizarre. It's as wobbly as a plateful of raspberry jelly, and in fact wouldn't look too out of place served with ice-cream at a toddler's birthday party. But it isn't slimy to the touch; there's almost no friction to it, so that it feels as though it should be wet but actually leaves very little moisture behind. Well, it has to stay hydrated, doesn't it?
(Also, it does not taste in the slightest like fruit.)

Katara is so torn. It feels ... it feels like she should be able to bend it. Really really easily.
And it's just a blob. Nobody would care. Anyway, it's not as if she's going to drain it or anything. She's just going to see if she can make it change shape. Flatten out.
Curiousity in her expression is the only warning sign before her petting hand crooks and lifts.

"DITTO DITTO DITTO!"
That's a squeal of surprise and confusion, because yes, it turns out that Dittos are bendable. Very very bendable. Into wobbly pink pancakes, in fact.
It's unhurt, though: Dittos have no skeletal structure to worry about, and they laugh in the face of recognisable internal organs.

Katara releases it hastily, and tries to pretend she didn't do anything.
THAT WAS SOO COOOOOL!

She does it again.
