So Sam's gone off to Nebraska with Dean and Jo. this is good; Leah approves, especially as he took a radio so Leah can find him if she needs him.
She's determined not to need him. which is perfectly normal and just one of Leahs' 'totally independent and needs no one and ntohgin, thank you' quirks she's got going on. Besides, Oracle was true to her word and is providing Leah with plenty to do. In between missions from afar, she's busying herself with things that distract her from thinking about how much she wants him around.
One of those things is heavy metal music. Which is why she's leaving her apartment in Metropolis; she knows a market that occasionally trades in scavaneged goods. that they often contain CDs.
Catch her there or en route, or even on the radio - Innovator is always wired in.

Then she's out, walking the streets, looking for a particular address. As it so happens, the person she's looking for her passes her on the way.
"Hey," Rachel says suddenly, stopping - not as she recognizes the girl that had been so helpful, but the woman she'd met at Christmas. "Leah, right?"
no subject
Leah answers before she stops, turning roughly in the direction of the voice.
It's familiar and not familiar, and she can't put a finger on it right now.
"That's me."
no subject
"I'm Rachel," she says, stepping over so Leah is facing her completely. "From Jo's party? And, um..."
no subject
Yes, she notices - Rachel from Christmas sounded older. Rachel the stubborn but loyal girl from Badgerland was younger. She says nothing about it.
"How's it going?"
no subject
That was probably a stupid question, wasn't it? Rachel winces.
no subject
Hey, she's fine now. "Glad I'm not thirteen anymore."
That was weird.
no subject
She hesitates, then "Am I keeping you?"
no subject
no subject
A pause and blink.
"A what?"
no subject
"Or coffee, whichever. It's instant, though."

Leah fails to sound surprised, although she's not sorry to hear it in any way.
"Something I can do or something I've done?"

Leah doesn't know the meaning of overworked. She leads the way back to her apartment, keeping the conversation vague while they're outside.
Out of respect for Rachel, more than her own paranoia.
"You definitely want this version of me?"
The blind one. She feels it's best to ask.
no subject
She's surprised by Leah's question, though. "I came looking for this version of you. Heavy hitters, we've got. It's someone that knows what the hell is going on and how to coordinate big attacks that we don't."
no subject
"Coordination's where I am now." Which is a yes, as she opens the door to her apartment to let Rachel in.
"Living room's on the far left. Tea?"

The apartment isn't exactly sparse - it's filled with equipment both electrical and tools - but it is meticulously tidy and square - bookshelves are packed with Braille volumes, CDs are similarly labelled. Leah had a stick outside, that retracts now as she's home, and the whole place is squared away so she can find everything she needs out of habit.
"So tell me about the thing."
no subject
"It started in Texas," she says, looking around while she speaks. At least Leah won't accused her or being nosy. "I found a building, a sort of castle.
"Made out of... out of skin. Flesh."
She frowns at the memory, shaking her head. "There was a guy there, human, firing up a bunch of creatures. I don't know what they were, but they got real excited when I dropped in. I was a dragon then."
no subject
"Did they engage you?"
no subject
Rachel's wrinkled nose smooths into a slight smirk.
"I engaged them."
no subject
no subject
This last is admitted grudgingly. The fact that the castle was made out of skin should have been enough but, at the time, wasn't.
"I got some friends together later. We went down and destroyed it but it was close."
no subject
Leah's aware flesh is disgusting, but there's a question here.
no subject
"Human. Not by sight, but it was."
