Sam is being musical.

Which is to say he's up on the roof of the farmhouse with a leaf at his lips playing a slow, pleasant tune. He does that a lot. It's a thing.

Which means that at some point, he gets a Josh. Yes. She just appeared.

"That's twice in the two times I've seen you making music like that."

"I get bored." Sam admits, bringing the leaf away from his mouth. "And I can't play any actual musical instruments, so a leaf is about the closest thing I've got."

"A leaf is a musical instrument if you use it like it."

"You know what I mean. No manmade musical instrument."

"Yeah, I do."

"Very good. I'd hate to be misunderstood." Gravely.

She grins at him.

"Well, haven't misunderstood ya yet, have I?"

Sam grins back.
"To be fair, I'm a fairly simple guy. Not difficult to understand."

"Sometimes simple's hard."

"Complicated is usually harder."

"Not always."

"There's always exceptions."

"Mmhmm."

"Mmmhmm." Sam replies, in a passable, if rather mocking, indication of her tone. "Met anybody interesting here yet?"

"Just you."

"I did specify that they had to be an interesting person."

"So you did."

Sam pauses, sheepishly.

Eventually: "So, if you're tired of a ninety-percent fruit diet yet, I hear the city has places with food. And drinks. And those tiny boxes which are too small to fit anything in."

She gives him the thumbs up.

"Sounds good to me."

"Great. We can fly or we can take the flying car, your pick."

Beat.

Beat.

"Flying car!"

Proudly: "I built it."

"No shit?"

"I have a lot of hidden talents." Solemnly.

"Man of mystery, clearly."
