It's taken almost two days to ride from where Dinah found him to the Cooper farm. While Scott is used to pushing himself beyond human levels of endurance, he hasn't been sure what the blonde can take, and its easier to get the lay of the land if they ride in shifts.
There may be a memory here and there of anotehr time spent in a post-apocalyptic world, one where he might have been known as Prelate. Eventually, however, he pulls into the driveway and sits there, studying the layout.
"Anyone home?"

"Anyone home?"
no subject
"Hi there."
no subject
He studies her from behind his glasses, expression completely neutral.
"I'm trying to get to the Cooper farm. Have I found the right place?"
no subject
no subject
"Good. I'd like to inquire about room and board with the proprietor. A woman named Dinah sent me here."
no subject
"I wouldn't be the one to ask. Most of us just find a room to bunk down here in this bunker. There's a Lucy Cooper who lives in the house. I know Dinah, we've met."
She came over to offer her hand with a smile, "Not sure if our worlds exactly match up, but I've seen pictures of you. With the X-Men right? I'm Kate. Kate Bishop. Also Hawkeye of the Young Avengers."
no subject
"Kate Bishop." The 'nice to meet you' is implied.
But he does reach out with a gloved hand to briefly shake hers.
no subject
"I'm not like my teammate Billy, not going to ask for an autograph. ...It's just nice to have somebody else from my world. Who's not a villain like Venom, you know?"
no subject
"Why would you want my autograph?"
Of the symbiote's mention, he can only clench his jaw. His team was not able to lend a hand on that one, they were too busy trying to keep Magneto from destroying humanity. Again.

She sighed, and glanced down. It was hard, being here and cut off from everything of her world. Being with Will helped, gave her support when she needed it.
"Sorry, I could show you around if you want it, but I'll leave you alone if it's a problem."
no subject
It doesn't work.
"I'd appreciate that, Miss Bishop. You," There is a pause for Dramatic Effect, "...can call me Scott, if you'd like."
But he's not going to smile - it's against his code, man.
no subject
Slightly sharper tone, "I'll stick with Mr. Summers for now, and don't try to humor me. If you want to be left alone, just say so."
no subject
"If I was going to humor you, Hawkeye, I would have made arrangements for tea and cookies. When I say I want to be left alone, you can believe me. Right now, you're the only one here who even knows who I am. So straighten up and act like an Avenger."
But he might apologize later when the fatigue wears off.
no subject
"Be stale cookies anyway." She folded her arms in front of her, and then walked ahead.
"You coming, Scott, or what?" Small smirk back at him.
no subject
no subject
"I see."
no subject
On the inside, he thinks Scott is a fine looking man. But we're not going there.
"New?"
no subject
Two can play the monosyllabic game. And since Scott has this teammate named Logan, he's gotten to be a master at it.
no subject
no subject
"Scott Summers. Thanks."
And thar be manly handshaking.
no subject
no subject
Staring creepily at him from the doorway.
no subject
"Hello?"
[stupid notifs. sorry for delay.]
no subject
And then there's a young woman of around 21 bringing that baby out into the sun, cooing softly.
Until she spies a new person, and grins.
"Hi there," she says, in an I'll be with you when my baby's calmer tone of voice.
no subject
[stupid notifs. sorry for delay.]

Mel rocks up and down on her heels, holding Loo closely for another few seconds.
"New, right?" she says over the girl's head. "Sorry about this - she's grouchy."
no subject
"A woman named Dinah sent me."
no subject
Dinah, Mel means, not Scott.
"She's cool. If she thought you should be here you probably do. Hi," and Mel shifts her baby to one arm to hold out the other. "I'm Mel. This is Loo."
no subject
"She seemed very friendly." The stranger abandons his beloved bike long enough to shake Mel's hand, and eye Loo.
"Scott Summers. A pleasure."
no subject
Mel, it seems, isn't going to forget her defeat in a hurry. Nevertheless, she jerks her head back towards the bunker.
"There're beds and stuff in there; sure you can find room. People are pretty much pitching in where they're needed. You know much about farming?"
no subject
"Uh, no. I could scout around and scavenge, though, if you tell me what areas need to be searched. Or I could do dishes, or chores. Whatever is needed, ma'am."
Scott does not relax easily.
no subject
no subject
Yes. He said that with a straight face.
no subject
"Just keep the kitchen and the bunker clean. That'll probably take up enough time."
Honestly, she shouldn't enjoy delegating this much. The part of her that remembers being an anarchist feels guilty.
no subject
See? Fearless Leader can actually take orders from someone else.
no subject
Mel grins, easily. "Don't wanna get settled in, claim a bunk first?"
