A few days ago, or maybe a couple, or maybe a lot -- Shattertime's flexible, shh -- Steph overheard Sokka and Sokka's ... discussion, and tried to make Sokka feel better about it.
She's still a bit sneezy, but the flu's mostly gone on to greener pastures (or, in the baby kraken's case, greener ... swamps? A sneezing kraken is a terrible thing) and Plans for Getting Sokka Away From The Farm are cooking in her head.
Also, quiches are cooking in the kitchen. Steph's been keeping an eye out for the ghost Mel says is here, but hasn't spotted her -- and there's lots of eggs this week, and Steph likes quiche.
There's enough for everyone and to share. Currently, Steph's washing dishes and humming absently while the third ovenful bakes, and the smell of delicious egg-and-bacon-and-pastry is wafting through the house. Mmmm, cooking and Plotting: her favouritest things.

Mmm bacon, that's being stolen from the counter and passed to Mr. Muggles.
"Are they all Lorraine?"

"... what's mascarpone?"
Steph's education in baking began and ended with the YWCA Womens' Basic Cookbook: How To Eat Healthy, Eat Fit and Eat Strong. Her mom wasn't big on mascarpone and spinach quiches.
... so she's pretty much going to pump Claire for information.

"I bet all the good dairies have been destroyed, though. How can we get fresh cheese?"
no subject
"... that is a really good question and may not in fact have an answer."

Claire sighs. "And I am not going to try and see what happens when milk goes off. This sucks."

"Someone could realise that regrowing limbs are an inexhaustable food source."

"... you know, I'm just going to pretend you didn't say that."

She nods.
"Yeah, let's pretend I didn't even think that."
no subject
"... ewwwww."

Claire's trying for insulted, but she's near-giggling.
"That's my body you find so disgusting!"

And then nods firmly.
"Ew."
She is near-giggling too.

"You just have no appreciation for the miracles of nature."

"So how's the bar?"

"It's good," Steph says happily, returning to her dishwashing. "I like meeting all the people that come through town now.
"How's your Sokka doing?" More than a polite return question: Claire's Sokka was all yelling at Steph's last Steph saw him, and she worries.

"He's OK," she says vaguely. "He's kind of freaked out by..."
Shifty glances around the kitchen.
"...y'know."
no subject
"Mine too. It's gotta kind of suck for them."
