A few days ago, or maybe a couple, or maybe a lot -- Shattertime's flexible, shh -- Steph overheard Sokka and Sokka's ... discussion, and tried to make Sokka feel better about it.

She's still a bit sneezy, but the flu's mostly gone on to greener pastures (or, in the baby kraken's case, greener ... swamps? A sneezing kraken is a terrible thing) and Plans for Getting Sokka Away From The Farm are cooking in her head.

Also, quiches are cooking in the kitchen. Steph's been keeping an eye out for the ghost Mel says is here, but hasn't spotted her -- and there's lots of eggs this week, and Steph likes quiche.

There's enough for everyone and to share. Currently, Steph's washing dishes and humming absently while the third ovenful bakes, and the smell of delicious egg-and-bacon-and-pastry is wafting through the house. Mmmm, cooking and Plotting: her favouritest things.

Mmmmm quiche.

Mmm bacon, that's being stolen from the counter and passed to Mr. Muggles.

"Are they all Lorraine?"

"Ham and cheese, usually," Claire says. "Which I guess these aren't. My Mom had a great recipe for spinach and mascarpone. I haven't seen any spinach since getting here, though."

"Type of cheese," Claire says, inspecting the fridge. "Man, whoever's in charge of grocery shopping isn't big on variety, are they?"

[identity profile] lilmsmiraclegro.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Hnnn," Claire says, thoughtfully.

"I bet all the good dairies have been destroyed, though. How can we get fresh cheese?"

[identity profile] lilmsmiraclegro.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Great."

Claire sighs. "And I am not going to try and see what happens when milk goes off. This sucks."

[identity profile] lilmsmiraclegro.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Claire says.

"Someone could realise that regrowing limbs are an inexhaustable food source."

Claire spent that second blinking at herself, so that's OK.

She nods.

"Yeah, let's pretend I didn't even think that."

"Hey!"

Claire's trying for insulted, but she's near-giggling.

"That's my body you find so disgusting!"

[identity profile] lilmsmiraclegro.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Claire shakes her head.

"You just have no appreciation for the miracles of nature."

After a moment's hesitation;

"So how's the bar?"

SUBJECT CHANGE FTW!

Claire grabs a tea towel and starts on the drying, companionably.

"He's OK," she says vaguely. "He's kind of freaked out by..."

Shifty glances around the kitchen.

"...y'know."

"I'd freak out if it was Peter," Claire admits. "Or Jackie. And we have stories of ghosts at home. Sokka just didn't know what to expect."
