Took a lot of work, and people's help, but the days of a single shower and toilet on the Cooper farm were over. There were now stalls set up to house a handful at a time. They were crude, comparable to the facilities on a campground site, but serviceable, and fairly clean.

Which meant Xander could finally start on some of the back order requests to build.

A young, tired-looking girl wearing a turtleneck passes by him. She stops and, almost like this is the first time doing this, gives him a short, awkward little wave.

How long's it been since Xander saw a shiny red sportscar?

Probably almost as long as it's been since he saw Faith, huh?

Well. Here they both are.

Faith is exploring the area, making sure she's got a feel for it. She's not expecting to run into anybody she knows.

He stopped hammering for a moment, and gave a friendly wave back.

"Hi, new girl in town? And I mean that in the friendly non-pickup liney way."

"Yes, I am. I...I don't know what a pickup line is," she adds, too curious to be very embarrassed.

Xander stopped his hammering, and set it down as he recognized the figure walking around. He blinked, with yes, two eyes. (Though a close inspection would reveal that one is glass)

"...Faith?"

".....Xander?"

Faith stares at him in shock for a second, and then grins.

"Hey! Wow, I totally wasn't expecting to see you here...though I guess after Giles and Spike I really shouldn't be surprised."

"It's a lame comment a typical guy, a really sleazy guy, not a guy like me would say to a girl in a bar to try to get them interested in him." Xander was used to explaining typical human concepts to Anya, and didn't think Dana's question was strange.

"Me neither, there's uh two versions of Willows around, but that's been it for our crew. G-man made it here too?" And Spike... damn, he could have done without him.

Dana works through that. "Oh. So now I know to avoid bars, then." She smiles a bit, having just made what she considers a joke and timidly wanting to show it off.

"Two Willows? I knew about the black-haired version....yeah, G-String and Spike and I just drove in from further north. Spike's been cursed, so when you see her - yes, I said HER - don't be too surprised."

"Well, you don't have to, and there's no bars here. Not until I build one that is."

"Yeah, there's Willow the Good Witch, and Willow the very wicked in a scary skin flaying way witch. But haven't seen much of the second one. First one's around."

Xander then eyed her, and started to laugh, "Wait, her? Deadboy Jr had a sex change? Can I see? Please? I want pictures."

"Sure, but you can't call her Deadboy anymore," Faith says, with a slight smile. "Spike's human now. It's a thing."

"What sort of things do you build?"

He was still laughing, "Oh that serves him right. He had it coming." Xander's still bitter at him for sleeping with Buffy and Anya, and oh assaulting Buffy too. A little bit, there was that whole trigger business that last year in Sunnydale. And him saving the world, but why should Spike get to come back and not Ahn?

"Buildings, furniture... mostly buildings."

Dana glances at the Cooper house. "Like that one?"

"He did."

Faith maybe means the words a little differently from Xander, and is not going to tell him that she's gotten fond of Spike.

Nor, it needs hardly be said, is she gonna tell him about the sexing.

"So....how long have you been here?"

"Some months now. It's been a while since I changed worlds. This is the second place I got dropped into."

"Nah, that was here when I showed up, but sure, with a big enough construction crew, I could build something like it."

"Me too. Well, the months part, anyway." Faith grimaces down at her clothes,. the tattered and stained remnants of what had been a very nice dress. "This dress was a ballgown when I got here. Long story."

He glanced over her, "Well... I must say, wearing what's left very well?" ....Very, very well. Xander likes.

"Flatterer," Faith says, amusedly.

Beat.

"......Xand? You have two eyes again. How'd that happen?"

"Does anyone have any idea why this place is intact?"

"Huh? Oh, uh, yeah, kind of a long story. You might see this guy that looks a bit like Principal Snyder in a mirror, only it isn't? He's a god, Mort. Uh, he helped me out." In exchange for being his follower. It's a living.
