Leah can be and is incredibly systematic when it's necessary for her to be. Necessity long ago ingrained a habit of being super tidy when her home, and the flat she's squatting in right now speaks for that. Take the living room, for instance: everything of no use to her has been moved and stored in the second bedroom, and the dining table has been set out carefully as her work station, every tool with its own place. Her finished radio sits separately on the coffee table, near a nice long sofa that Leah sleeps on as many days as not, when she isn't out exploring.

It is, by her time, about 5am local time when she sits down and turns her dial to the scalpel-marked frequencies for first the Doctor, then Oracle. She even tries a few random frequencies.

"Anyone out there?"

"All I can say for definite is the people in one a' the flats next door buy all their prescription drugs from a German speaking company," Leah says. "But the streets are wide - and cobbled, by the by. These are houses converted into flats, which I'd say was suburban if not fully urban. Could be immigrant community, but when I've found more things I can read I'll let you know."

"Well, just the German prescriptions narrows it down," Barbara nods. "Quite a bit too. It just still leaves us with a lot of ground to cover."

"Yeah yeah," Leah snarks. "I'm doing the best I can here. Fixing a location's still only second behind making sure my food's stocked up."

"I approve of your priorities. I don't want to end up retrieving a corpse, after all."

"And I didn't come this far to die of malnutrition."

Above everything else, it'd be embarrassing.

"Hey, how's the operation going? Any thrilling tales from the front?"

"Well, I've managed to pick up a couple more operatives. It's been interesting, and I feel like I'm almost in a position to do something about this world."

There's a heavy pause, and then:

"Wow, I really hope you're a good guy. Cause that's a sentence I get sick a' hearing from the other side."

Barbara is silent on her own end for a significant moment before suddenly bursting into laughter, "Oh man, I really do sound like one of those scheming psychos, don't I?"

"Yeah you really do," Leah says. "Though that might be the voice distortion, I can't tell."

"I don't know why I still keep it up," Babs admits, keeping the distortion up. "I mean, it's not like I've got a real life to protect here."

"Because you're a paranoid so-and-so who doesn't want to admit she derives pleasure from knowing more about a person than they do about her?"

Leah grins and grabs a bottle of coke and a bottle opener from the table. Popfiizzzz

"You sure you're not psychic?" Barbara snorts in wry amusement. "Or know a version of me back where you're from?"

"Hey, I used t'run a helpline for the cape community," Leah points out. "I'm all over our personality problems. You saying your the only one with that issue at home?"

"No, though I dare say mine are more developed than most." She grins, "I've had a lot of practice."

"One a' the old school, huh?"

Helpfully, Leah now has Oracle placed in the same generation as Tin Man and the second Red Falcon, who are both now in their sixties.

"Back in the days you had to fight crime barefoot and with nothing but an old tin can and a piece of string?"

"Well, not quite that old school," Barbara laughs. "I've still got my girlish figure, after all."

"Yeah?" Leah responds promptly. "Where'd you keep it?"

"Oooooh, is that how it's going to be? You just wait, I'll get you for that one, Miss Smart-mouth."

"Sounding like my Dad is not helping you sound young and hip, y'know."

"Well, hip is something that most of my people will tell you I'm not. I think they're just jealous."

They're not.

"Sure they are."

Leah shakes her head, for all the good it does.

"Seriously, you have problems keeping fit these days? Having to re-assess exercise regimen?"

"Not really. I had to readjust right after my career change, but now I've got a system that works pretty well."

"All right for some," Leah complains. "My metabolism went all over the place for the first few months."

"Yeah?" Barbara asks, tone politely curious.

Leah's shrug is audible in her voice. "Not getting the usual activity on the job, figuring out howta re-adjust, not touching the psych issues. You really had no probs?"
