Despite her loud and aggravated protests to Dinah and Zinda about 'wasting her time', with the exception of the first ten minutes in the club to get oriented, Babs has spent the entire time out on the dance floor. She's currently working on her fourth dance partner, the previous three all having ~~been wimps~~ taken a breather.

There are few things Barbara Gordon likes more than dancing, and even fewer things that she can still do in the chair. And her enjoyment is evident in the absurdly large grin on her face.

"Um," Dick says awkwardly, "hi."

He swallows.

The only reason Barbara doesn't swallow herself is that Dick doing so reminded her not to. "Hi there, handsome." She smiles hesitantly, "Care to dance?"

"That's ... why I came over, yeah," Dick manages, offering her his hands with a terribly awkward smile. "Listen ... I know we didn't part on great terms, I'm really sorry ..."

Barbara opens her mouth to say something, then pauses, frowning. "Um... when are you from exactly?" That is to say: 'which time are you sorry for?'

Dick blinks at her, frowning slightly himself.

"... if we're from different times and you don't remember, I don't want to remind you," he points out, with a faint smile. "You might get mad again."

"Do you meant to say," Babs smirks suddenly, "That you might have done multiple things to be sorry for?"

Dick shakes his head rapidly.

BUTTER WOULD NOT MELT IN THIS MOUTH.

"No way. Would I do that to you, Babs?"

For just a second Barbara's grin falters, and when it comes back it's a bit more forced than it was. "You might, Grayson. You might."

She remembers.

Dick bows his head, painfully aware that he might.

"... so," he says after a moment, leaning down to take her hands. "... dancing?"

Babs grins again, "You know I won't say no to that." She holds out a hand.

Dick takes it, and can't help smiling at the touch of her skin.

"...God, I missed you."

Her hand tightens slightly around his before she makes it relax. "Of course you have." She can't quite bring herself to say 'me too' yet.

"Where are you staying?" He didn't expect it, not really. She never needed him the way he needs her.

It's enough just to hold her hand, for now.

"And is there room for two more?"

If he thinks that then she really has got him fooled.

"Two?" she asks with a teasing grin. "You want to bring your new girlfriend along?" Not that she saw him with Sparrow, but it does seem like the thing to say.

"Absolutely." Dick smirks a little, curling his fingers around her hand and trying not to look too glad about it. "She's only little, she'll fit."

"Well, do you remember that plane I... picked up after I left Gotham?" Barbara grins, leaning over conspiratorially.

She can lean over any way she likes. Dick grins down at her.

If in a slightly confused way.

"You left Gotham?"

Barbara isn't quite able to suppress the flicker of pained memory that flits across her face. "Yeah... and if you don't know that, you're... younger than you would be back home..." There are things he won't remember.

Like the proposal.

"Time differences?" Dick frowns, looking her over more closely. She's right -- she's older, a little. Not much, but ... a little. He knows her face well enough to see it.

"... I don't think I like that."

"I can't say I'm the biggest fan of it myself," she admits wryly. "But I'm shallow enough to like having you around anyway." Her hand tightens around his for just a moment.

Dick smiles, and he leans down to kiss the top of her head, lingering only a moment to breathe in the soft smell of her hair.

"I can't argue with your logic there, wonder girl."

At his touch Barbara goes still, a smile fixing itself around the corners of her mouth.

"You haven't been spending time with Cassie behind my back have you?"

Then she reaches up to rest one hand against his cheek and gently pull him down for a kiss.
