Sam's poor, tousled head is all filled up with angst at the moment.

He's a few streets away from the house they're all staying in, perched on somebody's porch, drinking a purloined beer and thinking Very Deep Thoughts.

".............................huh."

Dean's hand falls slowly from his knife.

"... well, shit."

Sirius changes back, looking apologetic.

"Yeah. Like I said, I'm sorry..."

"You tracked him all the way from New York to tell him that?"

Sam is impressed now.

Dean is shaking his head, breathing out a slow sigh of pure relief.

"I'm glad he did," he mutters to Sam, and then, louder: "No hellhounds, huh."

"Hellhound?"

Sirius laughs quietly.

"Depends on which of my teachers you ask."

That grin is a lot like Dean's, in that it probably heralds some sort of mischief.

Possibly it was dangerous to introduce these two.

Sam snorts.

"Well, uh. Thanks. For finding us...and for saving Dean's life. He's my brother, so.....thanks. A lot."

Sam may be mentally classifying Sirius as NEW BEST FRIEND right now.

"Yeah, they used t'say that about me too," Dean says, smirking a little.

Sirius nods at Sam, and smirks back at Dean.

"I once hexed a teacher's robes so anytime he tried to give detentions, he'd end up dancing the can-can instead."

SIRIUS DO NOT GIVE DEAN IDEAS.

Dean's grinning already.

"Yeah? Sweet. Best I ever did was blow up the toilets.

"... at four different schools. I was experimentin'!"

"Brilliant."

Sirius beams.

Sam looks terrified.

Dean grins.

It's entirely possible he has a new kid protege. Sam is right to be afraid.

Protegé? Pff.

Sirius will teach DEAN a thing or two.

"So. D'you like the bike? Found her in New York, charmed her to fly myself. And she's invisible when I need her to be."

Sam is now picturing a flying, stealth Impala. And he is afraid.

"... can you do that to my Impala?" Dean asks, eyes bright and eager.

Hey, they're brothers, of course their minds work together like that.

"......you have a pet antelope?"

Moment of complete confusion on Dean's part.

"... whuh?"

Sam is laughing.

"It's a kind of automobile," he explains to Sirius, and then looks at Dean. "Which was named after a breed of antelope."

Sam the book-geek for the win?

"Oh!" Sirius nods, understanding. "I rode in one of those once. And got to beep the horn, and all!"

Beat.

"Magic people in my world live separately from the non-magic ones. We mostly don't have cars and things like that."

"Shit sucks," Dean remarks.

He'd die without his baby.

"I'll take you for a real drive, if y'like."

"Brilliant."

Sirius beams.

"I should be able to make the car fly, yeah - and to run on magic instead of gas so you don't need to fill it up, if you like."

And now, even Sam is intrigued.

Dean is more than intrigued now, he is fascinated.

"Really? That'd be pretty damn sweet. How reliable is it?"

"I got here from New York in an afternoon."

Pretty damn reliable.

"Won't run out, leave me dry anywhere?"

Dean loves this idea.

"Nope."

Sirius sticks out his hand to shake.

"Have a deal?"
