This is a totally logical and sensible way to do things. Shut up.

The way is: Dinah has a whole list of cities and places she wants to visit, including all over the United States; California, Pennsylvania, even Kansas, as she hasn't yet thoroughly investigated Keystone City.

She's starting in Greece.

This is, she claimed, because it's her vacation and she's always wanted to vacation in Europe and soak up the Mediterranean sun. But it's really because she's much less worried and apprehensive about what she'll find on Themiscyra than, for example, Star City, California. She hasn't even decided what she wants to find, but she can handle not finding it better if she starts with the Amazons.

Zinda's gone off to look at Egypt, after dropping Dinah off at an abandoned airfield. For some reason island-hopping on her own in a tiny plane is easier than admitting to Lady Blackhawk she doesn't know exactly which island is which on this world. Also, it feels more like a vacation.

"I'd suggest you keep that," gesturing towards the wheel, "someplace safe."

He blinks at her. She's kidding, right?

"Yeah, comics - you know, Wonder Woman, Superman. . ." He smirks. "The Black Canary?"

Dinah hasn't got pockets. So she just takes the wheel and holds it in her hands.

For a few seconds she's speechless.

"Black Canary comics? I have comics?"

She wonders if Babs got comics.

"Not your own series, no," he says. "Which I always thought was a shame."

He's talking to her as if she were the real Dinah Lance. . . he must be nuts.

"But you have comics."

She calls herself Dinah Lance, dresses like that, and pretends not to know DC comics? Right. That's likely.

A grin spread across Dinah's face.

Which gets wider. "And you've read them? Indiana Jones reads my comics?"

Best. Day. Ever.

"Well, it gets boring on long journeys," he says, reflexively. People have been known to tease him about his weakness for comics.

"Wait. You've heard of me?" That's not very likely.

"Of course I have."

True to her word, Diah is happy to leave the bad guys and let them stew until they rescue themselves.

"I've got comics, but you've got movies."

Indy groans.

"Lady, you're confusing the living hell out of me."

"What, I'm allowed to have a comicbook about me but you're not allowed movies?" Dinah challenges. "Tell me your life wouldn't make a good boys own adventure series."

"Yeah, but I'd know if there were movies about me," he counters. "Whereas. . . I don't know, you're just loopy."

Indy is perfectly sane.

"Right," Dinah points out. "A man on Themiscyra in the middle of an apocalypse dressed like an archaeologist from the thirties thinks he can tell who's loopy and who isn't."

This, she thinks, is way too fun. "I can prove it if you want."

She watched Last Crusade over and over as a teenager. She knows stuff.

"Firstly," he says, ticking points off on his fingers, "that's only conjecture about this island. Secondly, what apocalypse? Third, it's 1957. And fourth - okay. Go on then."

Dinah's fingers counter in kind.

"I've actually been on this island while the Amazons lived here; do you have any idea what's going on in the outside world? Actually it's closer to 2007; and you're afraid of snakes."

"What the hell are you talking about? Look, it's 1957 - and I was in the 'outside world' three days ago! I think I'd know!"

This is a flustered Indy. He babbles when he's flustered.

"Was there a flash?" Dinah asks, smirking faintly. "And a bang?"

"Nope," he says.

"Although. . . I was diving. And when I came up the boat was abandoned."

He shrugs. Doesn't prove anything!

"Diving off the coast of a mythical island no man's ever been able to find?" Dinah challenges back.

"Until now?"

That makes less sense

"No, diving off the coast of Santorini," he says. "The boat must have drifted. Or something."

"Uh huh," Dinah agrees. "So if I tell you that civilisation's collapsed across the world and all sorts of monsters and bad guys are running riot, you'll probably have a simple explanation for that, too."

"I haven't seen any collapsing civilisations!" He says.

Then again, he hasn't seen much of anything, being too fascinated by apparently Amazonian relics.

"If you've been here ever since coming in, I'm not surprised!"

Dinah's tone may be a little pressed now. It's irritating when people don't believe you.

Indy take a deep breath.

"Well, it's pretty damned easy to work out which one of us is right."

Because, if they leave the island and Greece is still as it should be, fine! If not. . he will be pissed.

"Right," Dinah agrees.

It's sad, really; this is clearly Themiscyra, and it looks just like she remembers it, only abandoned and ruined like the rest of the world.

Diana and Hippolyta aren't here.

"I have a plane that'll take two, on the beach."

"I have a boat, but. . . hell, the owners abandoned it anyway and if you're right. . ."

He shrugs.

"Lead on then, lady. I'm done here."

He can come back if she's wrong, after all.

He can come back anytime he wants, really.

The plane is very small: a hobbyist's vehicle, with just enough room for a pilot and a co-pilot or passenger. Dinah tosses the wheel behind the seat as she gets in, and glances as Indy.

"So what are these comic books like?"

"Nice plane," he says approvingly, hoisting himself in.

"And - well, they're comics. Everyone knows comics, right?"
