The streets of Lawrence, Kansas were dark until about thirty seconds ago.
Then there was light - not your usual 'Somebody just shattered' light, because there aren't new arrivals, really. More along the lines of a 'Somebody just defeated a serious badass and won their way home' kind of light, which is....fitting, really, since that's what just happened.
Faith Lehane, Sam Winchester, and Mary Winchester are now standing in the street in front of the Winchesters' home. All three of them are looking a little beat up around the edges, but Faith has clearly gotten the worst of it; she's bleeding from the mouth, bruised on every visible inch of skin, and cradling her ribs in a manner which probably means they're broken. They all look dazed, tired, and in serious need of a hot bath.
But they're smiling, because they just defeated a serious badass and won their way home.

(Who needs sleep, seriously?)
The light catches her attention straight-off, and she runs for it.

They are both trying to fuss over her.
Somebody ought to come and fuss over all three of them.

And then: "Mom! Faith!"
They don't mind getting barrel-hugged, right?
Cause they are.

"Dianne, honey, Faith's ribs are broken, don't do that," Sam says gently, peeling her off of the Slayer and sharing her hug with his mother.
Faith looks sad. She liked the hugging.

Jess is also hanging by the porch as if she isn't entirely sure what is going on.
The lack of sleep may have something to do with it.

"Fuck," she says.
Dianne? Can totally be cool with that. She'll just subsitute a kiss for Faith and massive hugging for Sammy and Mom.
And then: "Where the hell have you been?"
no subject
And oh look, Sam is down with leaving Dianne to hug and kiss his wife.
That leaves Mary to say, dryly, "Details are vague. But Faith nearly died getting us out."
And now, Faith for the blush.

Is he ever getting kissed.
(in-laws be damned)

It takes her a moment for things to sink in.
Like, kissing Faith in front of her mother 'sink in'.
And then there is brisk: "How long's it been?"
no subject
"Time kinda...loses meaning...er.....hey, Jess, you were a nursing student, make Sam and Mary get fussed over," Faith says.
"Says the chick with the -broken ribs.-"
"Slayer. And I didn't almost die!"
"That worm thing swallowed you whole."
"And I cut my way out of it. Very effective. I was fine."
no subject
Pause.
"All of you, inside. Now."
no subject
She kinda sees why Sammy married her.
"Yeah, do as the lady says."
no subject
Sam and Mary glower at her.
"....but I could use a shower," she admits, and follows them all in.

Not that she really wants to leave.
But.
no subject
"Faith......"
"Sam. Kid. You're sweet and I appreciate the concern. But I have broken my arm and been fine in two days, on more than one occasion. Seriously, chill."
"........yeah, okay."
no subject
"It healed straight? And you're not just bullshitting?"
Her tone isn't that she isn't believing her so much as she is clarifying, and being blunt about it.
no subject
She knows from experience!

He is leaning on the doorframe, arms folded, and looking Distinctly Unimpressed with all of them.
(and totally not relieved to see Sam home and safe-ish. no way.)
