".....bat?"

This is totally not Johto. Totally.

Faye scrambles backwards from the four-winged... thing.

"What the HELL!" she yells, startled.

Things keep getting better and better!

EEP! It flutters back itself, hovering a safe distance away in case this MYSTERY PERSON decides to attack or whatever MYSTERY PEOPLE do.

She eyes the... thing. It seems as afraid of her as she is of it.

But it could be a ruse.

Faye stands, very slowly, making no sudden movements, keeping her eye on the bat-thing. She then begins to walk toward the flying creature slowly, hands spread so that it can (hopefully) see that she's unarmed and means no harm.

...

It flutters backward warily, but seems to relax a little bit. No attacking yet! This is a Good Sign!

"Crobat bat?"

Faye pauses a non-threatening distance away.

"Is that your name? Crobat? My name is Faye."

O hay she is talking to it and asking its name! Clearly this means she is OK!

"Crobat!" it replies cheerily, hovering closer to her. "Bat crobat bat!" YOU ARE ITS NEW BEST FRIEND NOW.

Oh.... kay. She nods at Crobat.

"It's nice to meet you, Crobat." She reaches out to pet it. She doesn't understand the implications of what this means, apparently.

Yay petting! Humans being nice to crobats are nice because mean humans are not nice!

"Crobat bat! Cro?"

She doesn't understand what Crobat's saying. That's okay though. Crobat is cute.

She does kind of wonder if she can get away with renaming it, though.

"Are you a girl or a boy, Crobat?" She scratches behind Crobat's ear.

"Cro." Whatever that means! It is kind of hard to tell, and the naughty bits are sort of hidden. Even if one had some frame of reference.

"Right."

She looks around. "I don't think I like it here, Crobat. Something about how underpopulated it is makes me nervous."

Or it could be her paranoia setting in. Who knows.

Hmmm, yes. "Crobat?" It is now sort of sitting on the ground, back to her.

"Cro batbat!" it informs her, helpfully.

She pauses. "Where will we go?" she asks.

Sure, she understands, but--the world is so big, and there are only two of them.

".....crobat?" Isn't that her job- to figure things out? Its job is to fly and also to fight things! It is good at that!

She sighs. "We can search North America first, I guess. I don't know how strong you are, or if you can fly over the ocean, but--we'll have to jump that hurdle if we get to it."

She climbs on Crobat's back.

"South first."

"Bat!"

fwoosh!

They are airborne! And moving pretty darn fast.

This is a very strong bat.

The land is a patchwork quilt through a broken mirror, human-made lines all busted and disrupted, natural areas expanding chaotically. Some places are scorched and blasted, some clearly rubble. But there are a few spots that appear intact, if quiet.

Faye closes her eyes against sudden nausea. Wow, Crobat moves fast.

And then she settles in for the ride, keeping her eyes peeled all the while.

Well, there's some roads, and some mountains. Possibly the Appalachian range.

"Crobat?" Keep going?

"Keep going. Perhaps go inland."

She sees various blasted cities and shudders. God, what happened here?

"Cro." Aye-aye, cap'n! Inland they go!

And then, there's somewhere that doesn't look quite as damaged.

And then, the shines of sun off of cars. Some of them moving.

"Move in, please?" she says, leaning closer. She's fascinated.

"Cro." SWOOP!

"Not that fast!" she yells, closing her eyes and bracing for impact instinctively.

"bat?" The momentum switches smoothly, and now they're hovering over a rural landscape.

"Crobat bat."

She opens an eye, looking around.

"See if you can find a populated city."

"Crobat!"

And this does not take long.

Though perhaps its definition of "city" is a bit loose. Because that looks more like a small complex of buildings (a ship on land is totally a building) with people involved.

"Bat?"

"Perhaps this is where we should land, Crobat." She pets him(?) affectionately.

:D

And the swoop (somewhat slower, this time) takes them in.
