(no subject)

It had been a rather good day for Thomas.

A certain gentleman had come by his usual drop point, interested in engaging Ouroboros' particular talents. A short walk, about an hours worth of work snaking through vents and cracks, and a job well done. So well done in fact that his most recent customer had given him a bit of a bonus. A bag full of grape seeds, apparently prime for the planting.

Walking home, Thomas had taken the time to plot it out in his head. There was a beautiful expanse of farm land in the rear of his new home that would be wonderful for grapes to flourish, all he'd have to do is some hoeing and digging, and he'd have a fine crop next year.

Which is why when Thomas made his way back to said area, his jaw dropped in astonishment that there was already a crop of grapes waiting for him. Full rows of ready to drop fruit in row after row, just as he'd imagined planting them. "Well." Glancing at the bag of seeds in his hands. "Guess I won't actually need these."

Even as he makes the decison to get rid of the seeds, the field in front of him wavers, fades and vanishes with a sort of popping noise. Thomas stares for a moment, completely confused, before venturing "Huh, guess I do need to plant them after a- Oh, come on!" For now, the grapes are back.

"What the hell is going on here?"

Angela laughs. "You've got a point. They can be awfully loud. And I'm cranky when I haven't slept."

Angela grins and puts her arms around him and kisses his cheek. "Nope, that we don't."

She eyes the grapes. "So...where are we going to put all these grapes till we figure out what to do with them?"

Hooray for cuddling! "Sounds good...I hope there's room for thm all." There's probably room...somewhere. In the barn, maybe.

In the meantime, one bit of her brain is making a checklist of the things she'll have to find in order to make wine.

"Definitely never dull," she says, leaning her head on his shoulder.

"With some very...odd challenges." Perhaps they weren't that odd a hundred or more years ago...but they were new to Angela.

"Well, I mean, it's like we're living a hundred years ago or something...figuring out where to store things and transportation and things and then, of course, there's the occasional weirdness of grapes that are ready to be harvested...before they're planted."

She grins at him. "That didn't happen that much in my world, I'll tell you that."

"No idea. I know it's something like a year or so. So storage will be a concern...I'll have to look it up."

Yay, something new to research!

She grins and kisses him. "There's no one I'd rather start a winery with than you."

Angela does keep wondering when it'll end. She has abandonment issues so she's never really secure. But for right now, she's happy, and hopes he is too.

She grins at his blushing and hugs him again, briefly. "We should probably find...baskets or something to put the grapes in."

"They'll appreciate them there. It's not like there's a huge variety of fruit right now."

She grins. "There are probably some up in the attic. I think the person who lived here last was a hoarder of Very Useful Things."

"Well...turns out to be fortunate for us, doesn't it?"

Angela hasn't really been that far outside of town yet. Just to Smallville and back. She hasn't really had the desire to go into Metropolis yet.

Angela sighs at almost the same time. "Yeah, we should. I'll take a run to the attic to see what baskets we've got up there."

[identity profile] angela-edmunds.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Angela shakes her head as she heads inside for baskets. "Weird," she says. "Definitely great, but weird."

Angela laughs, and lets the screen door close behind her.

It's not that difficult: there are a lot of laundry basket sorts of things to bring down, some big, some small...but she has a feeling it won't be quite enough.

"Think we might need more baskets," she says, coming down with the lot of them.

"It's good enough for a start, anyway," she says. "I'm sure we can find more when we need them." There are, after all, lots of abandoned houses.
