A hot-air balloon appears in the sky over Texas, the only occupants being a man and his hare.

Lee peers down over the edge, eyebrows raised.

"Huh."

"I don't want to go down."

The narration promises that she isn't trying to be annoying.

"So... you are a witch?"

"No," she says doubtfully. Well, she hasn't had many opportunities to actually meet witches, but she's fairly sure that she doesn't qualify.

Then again, she has picked up the different-universes thing from one place or another.

"...do you mean a different kind of witch?"

Communication: not Bayami's strong point.

"Ain't no one in my world can be without their daemon but a witch." He pauses, considering. "What's your kind of witch?"

The daemon comment goes completely over her head. Sure, they have demons (shh, she can't tell it's spelled differently) in her world, but she's never heard of anyone owning one, unless maybe they were the owner of a particularly vicious circus.

"Someone who can do something, but it can actually happen miles away and the witch only has to do it to something right next to them."

(What did we just say about communication?)

Lee has to think that one through for a moment.

"So... they can link up one thing and another?"

"I think so. I don't know how it works," she admits.

She's had plenty of time for distant observation, but there's only so much observation can really teach you.

"Cain't be a witch yourself, then." He's a little stuck on this, but then he lets it go. "Name's Lee, and this here's Hester."

"Hello."

See, her infrequent visits to the Cooper farm have taught her some social graces! It doesn't mean she's suddenly a great conversationalist, but it's a start.

"I'm Bayami."

"Right nice to meet you, Bayami." He gestures to the basket. "Wanna get in?"

Blink.

Big wide eyes.

"Is it going somewhere?"

"Sure it is. Don't know where, but it's going somewhere."
