Shatter EP
A few hours of walking north of the Grand Canyon, there is a FLASH followed by a BANG with the immediate appearance of a small, skinny teenager standing where nothing had been standing before. She freezes, dark eyes tracking this way and that, the quickness of the motion the only clue to her panic.
Then, a few feet away, there's a FLASH followed by a BANG with the immediate appearance of a large, floppy bloodhound in mid-distressed bark.
A bark which rapidly transforms into a yap of contentment as it spots the girl and trots toward her, long ears flapping.
Jordan Harper grins at her dog, but it only lasts for a moment. While she scratches the creature's ears, she looks around at the desolate bit of land she landed in.
Nothing that can do this, in her experience, should or could be ignored.

He gestures absently, and the mirrors swing with out wind.
"This world faced a great catastrophe. It near to ended. And now... it seeks people to repopulate it."

And so far as she knows, only a trickster would think this was funny.
"Oh?"
She's going to need a lot more information before taking any action.

"And... if I don't want to have any part of a repopulation effort?

Mort cocks his head to one side.
"Do you think this is my ideal of a good place to hang around?"
no subject
"You're a sentient reflection," she points out quietly, with as much gentle tact as she can muster.
How the should she know where he'd like to hang around?
no subject
"Granted, my only areas of affection are Prophecy and Reflection, but I'd rather be dealing with them on my own world."

This is what her mother talks about when she says Jordan has a sixth sense: from anyone else, the question would be sarcastic, or at least teasing. From Jordan, it sounds only curious, as well as carefully reminding the listener of her situation.
Because really, there's nothing proving that Mort isn't the one that brought her here in the first place.

The dog at her side whines again. Jordan glances down at her and makes a small gesture - which the dog then gleefully obeys by racing over to Mort's tree. She's big, a bloodhound, and when she puts both front paws on the trunk of the tree, her head is even with and even taller than quite a few of the gods' adornments.
Which means he gets a good look at the floppy face of Jordan's dog.
"You said you're a god?"
no subject
"Mort, God of Prophecy and Reflection, formerly of the Norau Pantheon."

It's talking to her and she can't smell it and it's everywhere and she's running back to Jordan like a little kid that goes running back to Mommy.
The young woman makes a single, soft comforting sound and scratches the dog's ears again. It doesn't fix everything, but the bloodhound looks a little calmer for it. She doesn't look much calmer for Mort's explanation either, eyebrows lifted high and curious.
Wary, too. It isn't often Jordan comes across a Pantheon she hasn't heard of. "I'm sorry," she says after a moment, still petting the dog's head, "I don't recognize that name. What culture is it?"

"You mean Witchcraft."

He strokes his chin.
"I mean we're new Gods. Recently imbued with the powers of divinity, as it were."
no subject
"That doesn't just make you a prophet?"
Why 'God'?

"Do you know where I am?"

She nods vaguely and glances around, away from the tree. "Which way?" A tourist stop isn't the best and brightest of civilization, but probably a good place to start.
Y'know. In any world but this one.

"There are people familiar to you in this world. Monsters, as well."
no subject
Sara. Charlie.
"Who?"
Monsters don't concern her. Monsters are everywhere and she's familiar with plenty of them.

Still. She's talking to a mirror. It's entirely possible that her family is here and this... guy. Doesn't know.
"You mean hunters."
no subject
"But, in the vein of non future information, I can tell you there is a gas station about 13 miles north." He points in the right direction. "No one has scavenged it yet, lots of twinkies."
