Rachel wouldn't say she's been babysitting for a number of different reasons. A few of them include Not Wanting to Get Punched, Not Finding Anything Funny About the Situation. First and foremost being that she doesn't consider what she's been doing babysitting in the first place.

She's hoping it could be considered 'helping,' but she's relying on Jo's responses to tell her if that's accurate or not.

And 'with Jo' is where she's been the last few days, wandering around Metropolis, dropping in on the woman's apartment - invited or otherwise - making passes over the city in eagle morph. Surveillance, of a sort. She won't look specifically for Dean or Jack because she refuses to go over Jo's head like that for information. But if she happens to see something while she's up there that explains what happened...

Well, that's not her fault.

Right now, she could be found in the sky. Or maybe it's late and she's heading back to that building she and Tobias have been staying in. Or maybe, just maybe, someone's going to catch her on her way to or from checking on Jo.

...not that she needs checking on. Of course.

"Well enough."

He says it then smirks.

"There's still adventure to be had in the wide world."

Eyebrows lift and Rachel smirks a little. She can't help it with an answer like that. "Yeah, there always seems to be. Something specific?"

"Nothing new." He means 'nothing unique'. "Slavers out west; a race title and a description. They're dealt with now.

"Have you seen Jo?"

He knows the answer to this, but asks it anyway. He needs details.

Her eyebrows drop right back down where they started from, pale blue eyes narrowing a bit. Rachel's never had much of a poker face. Namely because she doesn't try to have a poker face.

Still.

"Probably back at her place," she replies with a nod toward the apartment. And then, because he's here, because he brought Jo up, because it's a completely reasonable transition in the conversation...

"Were you with her on her last thing?"

She could have the best poker face in the world; Jack's unbeatable at poker against anyone not magical.

But his smile is more or less completely gone.

"Aye. I was."

The only poker face Rachel has, and it's useless; all the same, her face stays blank even while the way Jack said that makes her want to hit something.

Or hug someone.

"Is she going to be okay?"

Jack is actually here for either. Whether he counts as 'someone' or not, he's not certain.

"That's what I'm here to find out," he admits, his face very much blank. If Rachel knew him better, she'd know how many volume that would speak of his current state of mind.

"Will you tell me how she's been?"

Rachel's jaw sets. It's a natural reaction, for her - someone she doesn't know, even if she knows Jo trusts him, and he's asking about a friend. There's loyalty in Rachel and it runs deeper and further than most people even think possible.

But then, for all she's tried to do for Jo, she's missing the information of what actually happened. Jack isn't.

"...she could use a few more friends."

Rachel's loyalty elicits a tiny smirk from Jack, who understands loyalty so deep it's part of your being. It's the loyalty he has for Jo and for Iskender and for Tom.

"The other reason I'm here," he says. He shouldn't have left her, but he couldn't have stayed.

"Needs she anything else?"

"As if she'd ask," Rachel grumbles, because Jack will be able to help and she still doesn't even know what's wrong.

And then straightens from a somewhat juvenile posture and shrugs again. "Her kitchen's stocked. Anything beyond that, I have no idea."

He nods, fully intending to find out. And then - then he sees Rachel again instead of using her to see Jo, and he inclines his head.

"Thank you."

Sincerely.

Her eyes drop, just for a moment, just to break the gaze. Because it was sincere gratitude and Rachel doesn't get that much.

Then pale blue is back on Jack and she nods once, arms wrapping around herself.

"Tell her hi."

"I shall," Jack assures her. "Need you anything?"

Apart from to know how her friend is.

That just gets another look - before she shakes her head.

"You?"

"Only for her to be well," he says simply, and inclines his head again. "Fare well."
