Charlie's sitting on a bench outside one of Metropolis' working medical centers, staring down at a small white bag in one hand, and a folder full of information in the other, including the name and number of one of the few OB/GYNs still working in Smallville.

To say it's been an interesting few days is an understatement, beginning with the stupid little sticks on the two over-the-counter tests and the confirmation a little while ago of what she kind of already knew.

Now she just has to figure out how to tell him*.

Clark lands lightly in front of her. He hasn't been circling the world nervously, nooooo. "Hey."

It's probably coincidence that Charlie's wearing the watch with the extra button, though using it for this sort of thing isn't something she was prepared to do. Emergencies only.

Still, she's startled, and clutches the paperwork a little more tightly. "Hey, you. How're the skies holding up?"

Or anytime she wants to see him.

"They're up. Whats the doc say?"

She's trying to be good. Clark has a lot of responsibilities. And she's adding one more to the list. Potentially.

"... he says that I'm, uhm, due in September."

"..."

"I'm gonna... we're gonna...really?"

"Yeah." Charlie lifts her head, looking up at him now. "I'm pregnant. Surprise."

And she has no idea what to do.

Clark looks at her eyes, and then, slowly, lowers his head to her belly. He gets that far away look of his, staring into her. "Wow. Oh... wow."

He may be grinning.

Grinning is a good sign, right? That he's not going to start yelling.

"I'm keeping it." Just so he knows.

"I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm supporting you." It's how he was raised. "My god, it's so tiny."

"I think it's supposed to be." Charlie needs to sit down with the literature they gave her. She's just still a little lightheaded about everything.

"Support me?"

"Take care of you. Keep you happy." However he can.

"Oh. All formal, you mean. Cause you're kind of doing that now anyway." Except for the part where she can take care of herself.

Clark reaches out to take her hand. "I wanna... be with you. And this kid."

Charlie hastily switches the bag to the other hand, and then curls her fingers around his. "You are. I mean, I see you quite a bit."

"Right" Clark smiles carefully. "Right"

The smile is too careful, and it reminds her of Cap. Not that Clark is anything like him, but still. "You meant something else."

"No, I..." He's not sure. "I just wanna... be there. and helpful. And stuff."

"Oh." Her expression relaxes. "So that's what you'll do. It's not like I know what the hell I'm doing."

"We'll figure it out." Smile. "Together."

"Together." Which is a sobering prospect. "I'm hungry. Feel like joining me for lunch?" No, they aren't cravings. She's honestly starving.

"Sure! What are you in the mood for?" Is that a twinkle in his eyes?

"Anything you want to feed me." Beat. Has she noticed the twinkle? Possibly. "And that I can afford."

Or maybe not. It's hard to tell.

"Asian?" Taking her by the hand.

"I could go for that. Do you mind stopping at home first so I can put these in a safe place?" Indicating the bag and folder in her other hand.

Clark slips his arms beneath her, picking her up easily. "No problem."

"Thank you." She'll worry about the next six and a half months later in the day, when she's alone and has time to brood. Right now her tummy is demanding nutrition.

With his usual speed, they are at her place. Clark loves showing off for her.

Charlie slides out of his grasp long enough to unlock the front door, and head into the house. Folder and bag go onto the kitchen table.

"Let me go put on a clean shirt." One that doesn't remind her of the doctor's office. She'll bound up the stairs to the second floor long enough to do so.

Clark watches her go. Then he watches her some more, right through the walls.

...He's gonna be a father.

Goddamn.

And Charlie bounds back downstairs a few minutes later, white t-shirt exchanged for a red one, along with a windbreaker because it's still a little chilly outside.

"Okay, ready." Well, after she snags some cash from its hiding place.

Clark picks her up again, and winks. And Begins to run. This may be a little bit. "So, what did the Doctor have to say?"

"They want me to see someone in Smallville, and then head back into Metropolis once a month when it's closer to the due date. Plus I have to take vitamins and eat as healthy as possible."

Yes, she is hanging on tightly.

When you want Asian food, the best place to go is Asia. Some places in china are still pretty densely populated, considering how many people they had to begin with, and so it is there Clark has taken his Baby Momma.

He sets her down in a chair at a quaint little restaurant he's been frequenting.

"They make some excellent rice dishes here. Chicken, mostly."

"Chicken sounds good." Charlie's wondering if getting a little more used to being picked up and arriving in some far away locale is a good thing or not, but the food talk distracts her.

"And rice, if they have it?"

"I"I'm pretty sure they do." He offers a tenative smile as the food is being prepared. "So."

"So." Mmm, stellar conversationalist here. "I have no idea," Charlie finally admits. "Never been pregnant before."

... and she wasn't really paying attention in the (brief) sex ed class.

Neither of them seem very good at that. "People... people from worlds I've visited have been showing up." He's thinking about Hal Jordan.
