Most people were not exactly pleased to find themselves plucked from home and dropped into a new, strange, and dangerous world. Those who were pretty pleased had one thing in common: in one manner or another, they were getting laid.

Needless to say, Angelo is quite pleased with Kansas at the moment.

It doesn't mean he likes the country, though. He's a city boy through and through and Snow Valley had been bad enough, with the nearest Metropolis a few hours drive. Kansas? Post-apocalyptic Kansas? Not so much with the good or fun or interesting.

But there is a boat. And a giant rock bunker. And also a big hole in the ground. None of which are quite as good as, say, a mall or a movie theater or a club, but still something to wander around outside the Cooper house and look at.

Thomas twitches his head to one side. A mutant is a Joker. Right? "What's the difference? Is this some sort of midcountry thing?"

"...the difference is, I ain't never heard've Jokers or Jokertown or midcountry. S'that work?"

"So-" Thomas scratches at his head, his hair moving more or less as one solid lump. "You're saying you were never infected with the Wild Card Virus?"

Brows go right up, perhaps higher than normal brows should be able to go.

"...no, amigo." Angelo shrugs and stretches his own fingers out in an imitation of Thomas' earlier demonstration. "I got an extra gene normal people don't, random factor. That's what makes a mutant. My X jus' happens to be the skin thing."

Thomas' jaw drops. Literally.

"Well, daymn, and here i was starting to think this place would make some kind of sense, right?"

"...why? You seen anything yet that's vaguely normal?"

Asks the grey, melty mutant who's sleeping with a shapeshifter whose powers come from her bracelets.

"It looks-" He turns his head around to look, then completes the circuit. "Nothing like home. I was hoping, right?"

Angelo shrugs, frowning a little. A better man might call it apologetic - Angelo would deny it to the end of his days.

"Sorry, man. F'it makes you feel better, world-hopping is kinda common with the mutants an' they always make it back."

"Not so much ours. One Joker made another world, and we've got aliens, but not so much travel." He sighs, slumping. And it takes a boneless man to really slump. "Damn."
