Sokka is contemplating the road to Smallville. Town! People! And more importantly ... SHOPPING!

But he's not sure they'd accept Fire Nation money here, and that's all he has.

Plus ... Sokka's basically a lazy person. And it's a long way to walk.

There's SRS THINKY going on here, as he stands out the front of the farmhouse with hands in pockets.

"But it could grow up to be a mean killing thing," Toph objects.

"Plus, I bet there's good eating on it."

"Oooh."

Appeals to Sokka's stomach are always a good move.

"...ooooh."

"When was the last time we had fresh meat, anyway?"

Toph disapproves of the hunting around here!

"In New York," Sokka says wistfully, turning to regard the pool thoughtfully.

"Do you think anyone would notice if we ate it?"

Toph gives this some thought.

"Well, how did it get there?"

"I'm not sure." Sokka pats his knife thoughtfully.

"I guess someone made it a pool. Cos that wasn't there two days ago."

"No, it wasn't." Toph agrees. "Someone dug it."

"So someone cares about it," Sokka surmises.

"Damn."

"Yeah," Toph agrees, deflating. "GUess we'll just have to find something else to eat."

"Maybe there's meat outside in this city place!"

"Or at least something to do," Toph agrees.

"I'm so bored here. There's not even anyone to fight."

"There's some Firebenders," Sokka says hopefully, and then remembers that Toph thinks one of them's her friend. "...or not."

"The one I want to beat up won't fight me," Toph complains. "He keeps claiming to be the Avatar."

"Oh, that one." Sokka scowls. "I want to beat him up too."

Toph smirks, tilting her head in his direction.

"Do you think anyone'd miss him?"

"He thinks he already met me!" Sokka flails. "I think he's on mushroom juice. Nobody would notice if we just ... rockalanched him a little bit, right?"

"'We'?" says Toph.

"hey, didn't you say there were two of you?"

"Yeah." Sokka sighs heavily. "Now apparently there's three."

Of course it's 'we'. RIGHT?

"Really?"

We'll let Sokka's imagination interpret that tone.

"...what?" Sokka demands, glaring at her. "It's not my fault!"

"Oh no," Toph agrees. "Of course it isn't."

Sokka stares at her suspiciously.

"What?"

"Nothing!"

No, really.

"Hmph."

Scowl.

"Fine. Well ... get your stuff ready. We're leaving as soon as Claire wants to."

"OK," says Toph.

Beat.

"My stuff is ready."
