(no subject)

She had found a change of clothes, and was trying to adjust to being here in this place. Her own remaining scars from when she first arrived had faded some. Could barely make out the scar on the top and side of her forehead since it ran into the hairline.

After running into that strange moving forest with Will, Kate tended to keep her bow and battles staves handy to be grabbed in a moment's notice. This morning she was outside at the Cooper household, and doing some katas. Just a way to try to have something else to focus on then the hurt of being torn away from home, and the war raging there still.

"Hey." There's a boy that looks two or three years older wandering over, watching the katas with mild interest. "I'm not sure I've seen you around here before." She gets a bright, warm grin.

"Me too, actually. Well, here as in this ... village-thing ... I've been on this world rather a lot longer." Joe grimaces slightly. "Appeared in some very snowy mountains. I was dressed for warmer weather."

"Will! Nice guy, very colourful, first person I met here. We got along fairly well ... After we stopped arguing about whether Sherwood would eat somebody."

"I don't know! It was a hundred years ago, I wasn't alive then! She probably just got miffed at people cutting her down." Beat. "And technically it wasn't somebody so much as the entire city."

"... No. It's just what forests do. It's like how the sea attacks the coast, or drags down ships."

"Naaah. 'S a curse, innit?"

"The forest curses people who displeases it. So does the sea. Mountains do it, too, a lot."

"Yeah, from what I've gathered, things work a little different in Will's world."

[identity profile] black-rackham.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Superheroes? Are regular heroes just not good enough now?" Grinning.

"Ah, you wouldn't find that very often in my world. People who have powers usually only have them because they're cursed. The people with the real powers - Like the ones who were able to curse things - died out long ago. Or else they all live in the far Southern regions, or the East."

[identity profile] black-rackham.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, I see. I don't think there's anything like that in my world."

"I'm Joe, by the way. Joe Rackham."

"So, what is it you do that requires you to use weapons? You're too female to be a soldier, too young to be a mercenary, I suspect."

"But you're not from any of those countries. I can tell." Joe taps his chin thoughtfully. "Superhero?"

[identity profile] black-rackham.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Want to talk about it?"
