Maria took Steph and Sokka and Jim all back to Kansas in a blink, after a long argument in which Mel promised at least five times that no one would die, leaving the four Fray girls to get the flying car back on their own. Or, as only one of them actually has a license, Erin to get the car back while Mel sits with her arms full of babies, looking decidedly comfortable.

"So, you're gonna want to hear the story now, aren't you?"

"That's about it," Mel confirms, letting the subject go quickly.

"No monsters, or portals, far as I know. Much more survivors. Group of immigrants living just outside Metropolis, including the girl got us to Gotham."

"That be the one not wearing clothes? Or the perky one?" Erin asked.

"The one with rocketship hair," Mel says, because Maria's hair is just along her taste. "Well, both, actually. Steph was in Eden with us. She'd been staying in the farm for the last couple of weeks, though. While I was in Metropolis, so I didn't know she was here."

"Well you somehow managed to find each other," Mel replied. "Was that Sokka guy with you? Or was he stranded somewhere else as well?"

"No, he ended up in New York."

Erin would scratch the back of her neck, only her hands are full of babies.

"Everyone gets to Kansas, 'cause it's safe. I didn't much want to hang out with the refugees, though." Cause of the babies. "'Til I had a dream with this - OK, you're goig to think I'm spun."

Like she doesn't get that a lot anyway. "Had a dream told me the girls were in New York."

Erin turned and gave her sister an amused look.

"Mel? Back home I saw you... Well okay another you... rip through a mob of lurks with a giant battle axe and then take out a giant... dragon-thing by slicing through its head," Erin replied. "Also I just popped into a new world where there are monsters, a new version of you that has babies that belch smoke and a girl who can teleport anywhere she wants."

"Trust me... a dream telling you where to go to find your kids? So not spun-worthy at this point. I however keep wondering if I'm going to wake up in some ward back in Haddyn."

"Kinda had me thinking I was spun," Mel mutters. "The smoke thing I kinda got used to when it was inside a' me."

Erin let out a snort of laughter but quickly reigned it in. "Sorry. Totally wasn't expecting that. I also didn't mean to say it wasn't a crazy experience. The dream I mean. I would have thought that the whole dimension jumping thing would make you prepared for anything."

Mel laughs along with her, and shrugs, more easily now.

"Nah, there's always something to surprise you, believe me. Best to just go with it, though."

"Not sure I have a choice in the matter," Erin admitted. "Though I have to admit seeing you with two kids kind of makes things... interesting. It's a side of you I never expected to see."

Mel smirks again. "Makes two of us." And with a pantomimed attempt at covering at least one ear of each baby, she continues, "probably not supposed to say this in their hearing, but they weren't exactly expected."

"Your secret is safe with me," Erin deadpanned. "Like any of us were expected."

"Yeah, well I'm trying not to rut this up," Mel explains, rubbing Loo's hair affectionately.

"Uh, which hopefully will involve staying in one dimension for at least a year, at some point."

"I think by just sticking around you make all the difference," Erin says quietly as she looks at the babies. "Doesn't matter where home is, right?"

Which is already one up on what they had.

"Guess not," Mel agrees, looking down then up again at Erin.

"Just try to give them as much family as we can. They had a whole building for the first couple of months. Eden wasn't as tight."

"Well you, Sokka and that Steph girl seem pretty tight," Erin commented. "You guys must have gone through some serious sh-"

She stopped and glanced at the girls.

"-stuff."

"Erin," Mel points out, trying not to laugh. "I'm their Mom. They'll hear worse than 'shit'."

That apparently out of the way, she nods. "Yeah, Sokka and I have. Uh - did you see his scars?"

The ones on his temples specifically. Marking out H and F.

"The ones on his temple right?" Erin asked. "And unless you want to be cursed with two girls who acted exactly like you as a kid you might want to watch the language."

Yes. She's being the big sister again.

"Cause everything that went wrong with me is to do with language," Mel returns, dripping with sarcasm.

Well, at least she's admitting she wasn't a perfect kid, right?

"Yeah, those. They were kinda left by someone who didn't really like me acquiring new brothers."

Erin unconsciously rotates her wrist a bit as she puts the initials together. "Sokka's lucky he didn't do more," she said with a slight shudder.

"Well, we had a werewolf."

That totally makes sense, really.

"Zuko got it worse, though. So, yeah, we've been through a lot."
