There was hammering and nailing going on around the farm again. Remains of a HoHo's near Xander's post after he and Will had gone on munchie run in Smallville the other day. He was currently working on the little house for Pikachu, and there was a new development. His one eyed pirate days were over since the patch was gone, and there were two peepers looking around now. The new one was a little lighter in color than his normal, and definitely looked glassy. But he could still see with both again.
He's also taking furniture requests.

"Um... hi." Fidget. "Din't mean t'be a distraction or nothin'."

"New girl in town, right?"
no subject
"Awful tiny house..."

He then stepped over, wiping his hand on his shirt to clear away the sawdust and dirt before extending his hand to her, "I'm Xander Harris, nice to meetcha."

She relaxes and shakes it, smiling a little. "Good t'meet you. This what you do?" She nods toward the work.

He nodded, "Yeah, sometimes. It helps around here." He went to put one of his tools away in a makeshift tool box he found, and there might just be seen a cross and stake hidden amidst the tools before he put the lid back down.
You grow up on a Hellmouth, you learn to be prepared at all times, plain and simple.

"Y'all got vampires around here?"
PLEASE PLEASE HAVE THEM PLEASE

He then nodded, "Rumor has it."
Head tilt, "Slayer or volunteer fighter? I'm in the latter myself. Hometown was parked over an active Hellmouth, you adapt."

"...I'm a hunter. Family business." She pats her whip.
"I guess that's kinda the same thing for us. Prince of Darkness livin' in our area. I was gonna fight him, when..." Yeah.

"Never heard of any Watchers. Far as I know, it's mostly just us, least in Warakiya."
no subject
"...The Master...baiter?" He asked with surprise, and covered it up with a cough.
He then hastily added, "Well there used to be a whole bunch of Watchers and one Slayer, and now... it's kind of the opposite."
no subject
"So... what's the difference?" They all kill demons, right?
no subject
"Not exactly, some Watchers train Slayers. They're the Obi Wan to Slayer's Luke. A mentor. But then you had the Council which were a bunch of guys who just thought she was a tool, a weapon."
no subject
"...oh. But, there's more than just a family?" This is good! This means people are (hopefully) more safe.

And he should be there helping, but can't now.

Wait.
"Can't the church help 'em out?"
no subject
no subject
"In where? An'... don't they fight demons? I mean, I only knew what I could do because of the church..."
Or at least that she wasn't cursed and evil. Same diff.

She shakes her head. "No, it's God. God gave me these gifts. Otherwise, it'd be witchcraft."
Witchcraft is Bad.

For a moment, she can only gape at the question.
"They-
"You-
"But-
"They get their powers from the DEVIL!"

Something knocks on the side of her mind. She falls silent, then droops.
"I... guess. Maybe. But... then she wouldn't be a witch. It's... it's somethin' else."

She's not really used to this whole ambiguity thing.
"But... they fight demons... right?" That's probably the important part.
"Um, y'need any help?"

Well, that is, hopefully she was not ACTUALLY a witch and therefore would not be judged to burn in hell.
Sonia is bad at comforting. It's why she's not SAYING this.
"I mean, I ain't much good, but I could, y'know, haul things. Or somethin'."

Y'know, as long as they're not under immediate threat by demons and all.
