Some time after talking with Steph, Zuko still has no idea how to go about approaching the many people who he should proably talk to.

Instead, he's focusing on something that puts it all off very nicely, and practicing firebending forms out in the training field. They really do make much more sense after visiting the Masters - without having to spend to much effort on brute force and anger to produce the flame, everything flows more, and that in turn is levelling out his thoughts.

So. Another version of him had children. And they're here. They also seem to think he's their father- at least, the version that they knew. He should talk to Mel first, then. He's not sure what she thinks, but he should ask, in any case. And Iroh should know.

Later. He finishes off a form, and moves onto the next.

Zuko gives Sokka a patronising patient look.

"You're both Sokka. I've already seen your double, and heard about mine."

Well, there's the return of that characteristic bitchiness!

"Don't be childish."

...And the personal remarks.

Sokka narrows his eyes at him.

"... you have a double too?"

Snark in a moment! KNOWLEDGE NOW PLZ.

"Not here. The older one of you knew him before this world took him."

And apparently he's all likeable, and marriagable, and fathering babies left, right and centre.

"Oh, good." Because one Zuko is already more than Sokka can handle.

Back to glaring.

Glareglareglare.

"What are you doing here?"

No, it's not a very sensible question. Oh well.

Zuko stares back blankly.

"Training."

Duh, Sokka!

"You probably need it," Sokka says dismissively, scowling.

LOOK HE HAS A SWORD TOO AND HE COULD TOTALLY KICK ZUKO'S ASS. He had, like, three days of training. And a TRAINING MONTAGE. Did Zuko get a training montage? HE DOESN'T THINK SO.

Scowl scowl scowl scowl scowl.

"If you try to kill me or Toph she'll Earthbend you two hundred feet down and leave you there."

Just so's he knows. SO THERE.

Zuko rolls his eyes.

He's had a training LIFETIME, Sokka! Nyah!

...Without the 'nyah!'

"I've spoken to Toph," he says, instead. "We got on okay."

...

"... and you didn't try to kill her?"

WTF IS THIS. This world is weird, but not THAT weird!

Zuko sighs.

"I'm from your future, then. I'm not sure how far, but I've joined your group in my world. The Avatar needed a firebending teacher. It seemed to work out."

Beat. "No. I didn't try to kill her."

Sokka's expression stays exactly the same for quite some time, waiting for the punchline.

When it doesn't come, he blinks at Zuko, frowning.

"... you joined us. Mr I-Must-Capture-The-Avatar joined us."

It doesn't make any more sense when he says it out loud either!

"...Yeah. It took a while for you guys to get used to."

Beat.

"So, take your time."

"I will," Sokka says, glaring, and turns to STORM AWAY. (In a manly way.)

And then hesitates, and finally turns back, reluctantly.

"Uhm ..."

Zuko was all ready (and slightly relieved) for Sokka to stride off, and so he just eyes the other boy when he turns back, not sure what to expect.

"...What?"

Sokka fidgets for a moment and then shoves his hands in his pockets, frowning at the dirt.

"There's a ... man ... who's hunting, uhm, Benders. And anyone with abilities.

"He's, um. He kills them. You should be ... careful."

Not that he wouldn't kind of like Zuko to get ...

... no, he really wouldn't. Nobody deserves that.

Zuko blinks. Whatever he'd been expecting, it wasn't a warning. "I will," he says.

And then he remembers what he'd been told about Katara. And about which Sokka's sister she had been.

He is silent for a second or two, then says, "Thanks."

His voice is uncharacteristically quiet, and lacking aggression.

That's the weirdest voice ever to come out of a Zuko. Sokka isn't paying much attention, though.

He just shrugs and goes back to his Manly Walking Off In Disgust.

Because he's Manly.

Yah.
