At another time, a little later than the first time, the Cooper farm finds itself presented with yet another carload of newcomers.
At least these don't apparently plan to stay -- and certainly wouldn't seem to have close bonds, the way they're all three bitching at each other, or the way the car doors slam in order as they get out and immediately stalk in different directions.

Loo bubbles over with laughter, bouncing in Steph's arms and reaching to clap Jo's hand. Apparently she's used to not being allowed to go to strangers; Steph isn't making a big deal out of it, is really pretty subtle, but there's still that protectiveness there.
"It's definitely strange seeing yourself. Especially a younger version. Way creepy." She grins, distracting Loo for a moment with a cookie from the tray that's still airing on the bench. "Cookie, Loo-loo? Cookie, Jo?"

Jo's good with knowing how to not get into people's bubble. She lets her hand get grasped but doesn't move it much. Curling her finger in the little hands, but not stepping closer to them, and not holding it when they both move toward the cookies.
"Sure. What kind?"

"Haa!" Loo tells Jo happily, through her mouthful of crumbs.
"Hana," Steph translates, holding the plate out to Jo. "Choc chip. Hana is her sister's name. Her mom's Mel Fray, runs the farming side of things here. You can't miss Mel, she's got brilliant-coloured hair and usually both of these girls on her hips."
She approves of Jo already. Staying unthreatening around babies is awesome, especially from someone she's analysing as 'totally a fighter, tough as nails, great hair, and tiny like me, therefore awesome.'
In-depth character analysis, let Steph show you it.

"She's the mayor, right?"
She took a bite out of her cookie while taking a glance at the kitchen. Suburbia in Smallville, they has it. Then she gave a slight laugh.
"I can't remember the last time I had one of these."

"Claire bet me she could bake better cookies than me," she explains, grinning. "And we do a stack of cooking. It's just really nice having a place to be a home, y'know? Last world I was in was, like, this one long concrete street. That was it. Three miles to run, and I used to run it ten times a day. Never changed. Creepy as anything."
"Sephieeeeeee Sephie," Loo says, wriggling for down. Big golden eyes look up at Jo excitedly. "Sephie!"
Then the tiny girl sneezes a fireball, narrowly missing the light fixture.

"That-" She's pointing with her cookie. "You're-" Jo is caught between surprised, shocked, and warily amused that the girl, Umm, Steph, didn't react. "Anyone told her she's a little young to be smoking?"
Jo's face totally reads explain me the crazy.

The toddler hiccups and clings to Steph, grumpy now.

Uh huh.
Also in the Fuck The What categories of Farm.
"That's like tiny tike pyro's?"

Steph bounces Loo on her hip and kisses the little girl's tiny nose.
"C'mon, Loo-Loo, let's show Jo how we breathe. In, out, in, out, fire!"
Loo looks sulky, but kisses make her giggle a little, and then she breathes obediently along with Steph. A wisp of smoke escapes from her and she looks terribly proud.
"Feee, S'ephie!"
"I see, Princess! Good work."

Eating her cookie while watching, she had to remark, silently, it wasn't the strangest thing. Not with a morphing roommate and all that Winchester crap.
"Cool."

"You definitely have entertaining down, Loo."

Jo gave her an odd look.
"You let her play with a Kracken?"
no subject
"You should hear them both scream when we tried to stop them," Steph says, wrinkling her nose. "He's cute, though. And hasn't tried to eat anything but my shoe yet -- he doesn't have any teeth or anything."

"Any relation to Mr. Julia?"

"An octopus in one of my last stops, lived in a lake and befriended one of the little girls there to the point of being 'very best friends.'"

"What world was that on?"

Even if just a bar seems to keep the wisp of smile present.

"Name sounds familiar. I might have seen her while I was tending bar there."
