Are you living on the farm? Are you passingly familiar to Windows 95?

THEN YOU ARE GETTING A SWEATER. NO, YOU DO NOT GET A SAY IN THIS. The pikachu and the crobat have somehow gotten wrangled into one each, and are trying to get used to this new thing a small distance away from the porch, where 95 is sitting and knitting, with a growing pile of knitted goods.

To redeem your sweater, please speak with any available representative. Which would be 95.

Cooper Farm:
Sonia has managed to fob Ralph off on a babysitter and is currently sprawled on the top of the bunker, enjoying the relative silence of Outside. (Tweeting birds, wind, and the occasional sound of people Doing Stuff is silence compared to Very Loud Baby.)

The little yellow thing has joined her, mainly because she doesn't seem to be interested in attacking it and the grass on top of the bunker is good for nibbling. (It has gotten the message, after several attempts, that the end of Sonia's braid is not the same as the grass and should not be included in the category "Things that are allowed for chewing on if you are not Ralph.")

There is plenty of room for anyone else who wants to pass a lazy summer day.

New York City:
Laura was very excited a little while ago. It is summer! Summer means swimming! In pools! She even found swimsuits that fit her! It was going to be awesome!

Only a lack of maintenance crew has left the pools of New York in an Extremely Icky state.

Laura is sulking by a public swimming pool. Mudkip, however, is AOK with icky pools, and is splashing about and enjoying himself.

There is a little robot hanging around the Cooper farm.

No. No, not that one. That is a big robot.

This one's about the size, shape, and colour of a basketball. It's adorable as all hell and would be delighted to make your acquaintance.

Today, it is making its first foray into the Cooper house. People seem to congregate in the kitchen, so it hops up onto the table and swivels back to face the door.

Please do not mistake it for food.

So you might have noticed there's a big ol' robot parked out back of the bunker at the Cooper farm. It's large and green and looks very battered.

Approach it, and one of two things happens.

Either you came during the day, and Val Bell is sitting on its head with a good book and a bowl of apples, or you came during the evening or night and it is apparently deserted. 'Apparently' being the key word.

What'll it be?

[Dealing with a world gone mad.]

One particular day, Oliver tries to start his van, ready for another day of patrolling and moping.

The battery is dead, though he doesn't know this: all he knows is that the engine sounds sick and won't run.

He gets out of his van with a look of weary disappointment, then looks around the Cooper farm for someone who can help him.

A suave-looking black man strolls into the farm, looking around assessingly.

"Well, this is nice."

The evening's fast approaching actual night when two figures can be made out on the road approaching the Cooper Farm. Deadboy and Mel are pressing on, not really talking apart from Mel occasionally pointing out features as the come into view. In one hand she's carrying the skull of some large horned demon, and tucked into her belt is a stuffed toy dinosaur - souvineers and presents form her daughters.

Come out and say hi?

[OOC: Tag Mel or Deadboy or both!]

Cooper Farm:
Sonia is really not into this whole pregnancy thing. Not only has it required a total change in wardrobe and lessened activity, but it's been giving her such joys as indigestion, cramps, and similar indignities. Right now, she's sprawled under a tree, trying to stop up a nosebleed and hoping that this, too, is a normal thing and not some kind of horrible precursor to, say, the child being an inhuman fiend.

Windows 95 is, as usual, doing her thing in the hospital. Which, of late, has mainly involved finding new ways to keep the paperwork organized and accessible.

Pikachu has plonked itself down on the top of the bunker and is enjoying the weather and chewing on grass. It has a very simple, and very awesome life.

New York:
Laura has staked out a room in Gryffindor Tower, and is in the process of making several runs into the city to raid the convenience stores for snack food. Joy is having a big pile of candy bars and nobody to tell you not to eat them. (OK, nobody that you HAVE to listen to.)

Mudkip, despite all evidence to the contrary, is kind of brave enough to go on exploring runs. Kind of. He's timidly edging along buildings now, ready to duck inside and hide at the first sign of... anything.

Jessica is working on a bigger version of her map of the subway system as it is now, intended for mass consumption. (Well, "mass" as in "anyone in the common areas of the subway right now.") She'll be putting copies up over the old official maps once she's done (and has found the proper keys to open the display cases).

Kern is still pestering people over the subway PA. The recent difference, however, is that he's pestering in toddler English in addition to gibberish, rather than the parroted English and gibberish combo he'd been using. The language lessons are having an effect! (Whether the effect is wholly desirable is another story.)

There are too many people inside. Too many strangers, too close, stepping wrong, talking wrong, looking wrong and all in all, inside is just wrong.

Which is why Iskender is outside the Cooper house, contemplating the kraken pond.

At least, he's looking in that general direction.
[identity profile] hector-aframian.livejournal.com
At another time, a little later than the first time, the Cooper farm finds itself presented with yet another carload of newcomers.

At least these don't apparently plan to stay -- and certainly wouldn't seem to have close bonds, the way they're all three bitching at each other, or the way the car doors slam in order as they get out and immediately stalk in different directions.

Her eyes are shut.

She's outside. It's blue, and green, and her fingers trail out to the side of her. Her steps are soft and unbearably slow, like walking in a dream and against all odds do not make a single sound. Once in a while, she changes course to avoid collision with an object visible or invisible.

(She sees.)

Do you?

That There Notnamed Guy is on the rooftop of the Cooper farm. It is likely best not to ask how he got there, especially when he's not so much with the walking easily lately, let alone climbing.

Still, there's not many people up here, and it gives him a good defensive position vantage point, so he's possibly more relaxed up there than anybody (except maybe River) has seen him so far.

Botherable.

Wash has discovered the OMG REAL FRUIT growing on the Cooper farm.

He is currently staring at an apple as if it might, at any minute, disappear.

Oliver is standing by his van on a certain morning. There are couch cushions in the back instead of hay and dung, and most of the horse smell is gone. Also in the back is a fresh first-aid kit, some blankets, bottles of water, and five hearty sandwich lunches.

In the front are a few books. Oliver anticipates much boredom in the mall at Jefferson City.

Now he's just waiting for people to arrive.
[identity profile] sworntoalostgod.livejournal.com
Oliver has been busy thinking.

The only change in his behaviour is that he's been slightly more distracted, mostly notably when he shows up to practice fighting in the morning. The only change in his routine has been to spend more time at the nearby farm Talking to Huxley, making sure he plays nice with the other horses. While he can spend a lot of time doing that, he can't legitimately spend all day doing so.

He happens to be strolling outside today near the farm, having finished patrolling the fields. An old Bible is held loosely in one hand, but he's not reading it. (He told himself he'd try to learn about this land's religion. But what can he do when he can't force himself to read past the first few verses?)

Right now he's intently watching a circling hawk. He holds a hand out to it, then makes it circle first in one direction, then the other.

The theme of Bridgette's tenth birthday is 'Disney Princess meets crazy artist'.

The Cooper farm has balloons out front. Inside the living room are streamers made of colourful paper. Bridgette's drawings are tacked up along the walls - which includes everything from unicorns and rainbows to red and pink lumps being gnawed on by black birds and cemeteries with hands poking out of the ground. Bridgette herself walks around with a fairy princess wand, waving it and twirling every few steps.

Bridgette has set up a "PRESENTS HERE! (and my sister is guarding it if you steal)" sign on one of the couches. One wall in the Cooper living room has Pin the Tail on the Donkey on it, and on a table there's Monopoly with a lot of hotels already on the board. Bridgette will every so often sneak over to the Monopoly board and add a few more hotels to it (they're her hotels, naturally).

Since this is a sunny day, there are outside entertainments as well. Outside, there is a lonely pinata with a bag of candy beside it. Bridgette meant to get that set up sometime, but eating candy distracted her. Oliver Wycliffe is also outside, with his horse Beauregard. He got roped into promising Bridgette a horsie ride. If someone else desperately wants to ride Beau, he'll certainly oblige.

Come one, come all, to Bridgette's birthday party!

Snow's in the Cooper kitchen.

This house is totes interesting, and it has a freezer, which automatically = awesome.

So she brought it ice cream!

Ice cream which she is now eating.

Om nom.

The yellow thing has been hard at work. It has a small wooden house set up outside the bunker, with a sunflower to the side. It has also hoarded a small cache of scrap paper and old crayons.

At the moment, it is outside its house with said paper and crayons, peering seriously at the walls and occasionally making a few marks on the paper.

Though it is very distractible, if anyone feels like trying to get the attention of a small yellow thing.
