This castle was pretty impressive, Kate had found her way up to what was once the owlery as evidenced by some fossilized owl droppings and pellets that she found around as she headed up for a good view of the city. Easy to track triffids movements from here when they're out, and she was going to do patrols around to find where there might be other survivors like Jessica around here. Or just new arrivals in need of help. But at least, had the start of a base and headquarters with some supplies already. Including what Garo and Will had brought up. Hopefully Nathan will bring more, and more volunteers.

She had asked him to write a notice on the farm board, and leave information in Metropolis to anybody who might be interested in coming up and helping. Including a special message to Teddy to update him on her location. Also apologies to Mel for leaving the farm and patrol on short notice, and her thanks to Dinah for the practice help.

But her city needed her she felt, and she didn't think it was lost just yet.

She brought her hand up to stroke his cheek, and then gently brush his hair back from his face.

"I will, I'm sorry, Will. It's one of the only places those plants won't go."

He nods and holds her tightly, "Will be brave."

"I know you will." She then leaned up for another kiss on the lips.

Gently, he kisses back, pulling her into his arms and almost lifting her off her feet, she gives him such hope.

She smiled against his lips, and deepened the kiss as she tightened her arms around him.

He inhales the scent of her in the kiss and breaks it off, leaning against her forehead,

"Love, 'fore I lose me courage, let's see this places' depths."

She peered back at him.

"You sure?"

"Aye."

His eyes hold a lot of pain but he wishes to do this for her and himself.

"I love you, you can do this. Ok?" And she gave him one more kiss, and squeezed his hand to reassure him.

"Aye, with ye beside me sure I can."

"I got you, you'll do fine." She then lead them over to the stairs.

He keeps tight hold of her hand as they move down into the main castle.

"You're doing fine," She was going to keep whispering words of encouragement to him as they walked down the steps. And kept walking downward more and more.

As the stone seems to hold him tighter, Will holds her closer.

She then started to hum something. Back before the war, they had hung out at Billy's place, and watched some movies. Including some Monty Python ones, and the Life of Brian was pretty ridiculous, but it was a nice song at the end.

"Always look on the briiight side of life," complete with whistling.

He gives her a smile as the lanterns light and the stone feels rather close.

So there was more humming and whistling against the darkness of the stairs, and it echoed against the stone walls.

The deeper down they go, the tighter he holds her hand but he doesn't let go of it,

"'ow much farther?"

"Another set of steps and we're there. You holding up ok?"

"Feel so close but ye're 'ere."

They were now in the corridors of the lowest levels in Hogwarts, and Kate peered back at Will to say seriously, "Will, we don't have to do this now. If you want to go back upstairs, we can do this again another time. You're great so far."

His hands are trembling but he doesn't want to fail her,

"Can do a wee bit farther."

"You're doing fine." She was worried about the trembling, but knew he had to do this. Had to get rid of this fear he had.

"I'm right here, nobody's going to hurt you. Understand?"

"Aye, do know that, just 'ave to do it then ne'er 'gain."

"They can't hurt you. Not now. Don't let your past control you." She leaned over, hands still linked together and kissed his forehead. She then gently lead him along the corridors.
