Cooper Farm
Jean went 'walking' this world, for very little definition of that word.
Today she's sitting in a field of late autumn not too far off from the farmhouse and it's general surroundings.
She's presently plaiting a long thin chain of flowers.

They're practicing distance today. Steph had to borrow the car, so Sokka is just walking and waiting to see how far Katara can hold her strength before she starts to fade in his eyes, too.
The answer: not yet. She's still perfectly audible and Sokka winces a little at her happy little squeal when she spots the flower plaiting.

"Hello."
If Sokka is watching he might notice Jean's eyes land on his sister, but it's a rather easy flowing, unhitched, look from her flowers, to the girl, to him.
no subject
"Hey. Are you new?"

By which she means this entire dimension shift, but it's hardly here or there to her. It is all the same terminology and existence.
The smile was vaguely errants as she looked back to her flowers pulling up the bottom to finish off the wreath. "Would you like them when I'm done?"
no subject
It takes him a moment to remember to respond. "Oh, uh, no thanks. That's, uh, very nice, though."
Katara wants them but Sokka's fighting her on this one - where would he put some braided flowers?
no subject
"I wasn't asking you," she said, quite kindly.

And scowls at something sarcastic and teasing his sister just said, batting at the air and starting to grin. "In that case, yes."
Or he will never hear the end of it.
no subject
"I don't believe I've had the chance to meet you before. I'm Jean."
no subject
Which gets him yelled at. Not that Sokka is fazed, or surprised, by it.
no subject
Instead she says, "I know." Followed by, "I'm very glad you two are back to talking."
She stopped it near his hand, without letting it fall, as she watched him. "It's alright. It won't hurt you."
no subject
He bats are her transparent form with the flowers.
"We're not sure she can be hurt. And... we're fine now, thanks." Mock-scowl. "Even if you're a brat."
no subject
"At times, yes. I met your sister during my first visit here. It was quite a long time ago."
no subject
"I know you're not a child, Katara, I can still be nice! ...shut up!"
no subject
no subject
"...sorry. We're a totally normal pair of semi-discorporeal siblings."
no subject
"I had a sister back home, too. Her name was Sara."
Past tense very specifically.

Now Sokka is getting chastised for being an insensitive jerk, which means he's a little more sheepish-looking than he would be without his ghost-sister lecturing him.
"Oh. Well, y'know, people are showing up practically every day." He shrugs, sympathetic, and gestures back toward the house. "And they usually come straight here, first of all."

Her family has been through two purges. One in her lifetime, and one during her daughters-from-an-alternate-timeline.
"It helps that everyone relays that there is a safe abode to come to."

Jean said it good-naturedly.
"I found someone who brought me here from the middle of Texas."

"No. They are fine now?"

no subject
"Good."
no subject
He grins, sheepish and dodges Katara's elbow when she tease him with an "Awwwww."

Doesn't stop him from riding his Pale Board through the grass towards Jean. "Hey, how's it going?"
no subject
At least it didn't stop her from plaiting the flowers.
"Well. And yourself?"
no subject
no subject
"It's a good day for slow here."
