(no subject)

A massive Flying Bison settles onto the lawn in front of the farmhouse and two passengers, who had no idea where they were, sat on its back still clutching its fur tightly. "Well," Iroh says jovially, "It seems we've arrived."

Jona's eyes were wide, "There's a boat. On the land. Now I know that this the fairy world."

Iroh chuckles, "It is very odd, I'll admit." He slid down the side of the Bison to land hard on the ground. "Shall we look around?"

Toph felt that land! She knows that landing!

So there's a tiny blind girl pounding land as she runs to the flying bison.

"Appa!"

Jona's fingers are frozz to the Bison's fur and she lost her shoes and for the first time in her life, she's completely ready to kiss the sweet, solid ground.

But other than that, she's fine, thanks for asking!

"His name's Lankllym a Bison," she calls down helpfully.

Toph points up in the vague direction of her voice "Hey, don't give him names if you don't kno... hey!"

This punctuates her turning to Iroh, whose tread she recognised when he landed.

"General Iroh?"

"...You know each other?"

When in doubt, state the obvious, that's what Jona always says.

Toph smiles, unusually softly. "He sacrificed his freedome to save my friends."

She turns an ear to Jona's voice, and to the bison in general. "Are they with you?"

[identity profile] jonadarkhair.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"...oh!"

Possibly some of Jona's awed tone is lost in the fact that she has to shout down from the Bison's back. (Oh, no, he was imprisoned for a good cause? He probably thinks she's some horrid criminal. Damn her big mouth.) She finally manages, with much coaxing, to free her cramped hands and feet from the animal's thick fleece.

"Oh," Toph says, stepping back from the bison. "Not Appa?"

She hangs her head briefly, and turns back to Iroh. "There might be tea in the house."

She knows his weak spot! Ha!

"If they actually are fairies," she warns him, starting to clamber down the Bison's flank, "you shouldn't eat their food, else they'll have a power over you."

Not that she's sure these are fairies. But it never hurts to be cautious!

"Not you as well," Toph says, clearly dispairing. "Look, no one's a fairy and no one's a spirit and yes, the tea is OK but Sokka dismantled the automated firebending kettle and now it tastes funny."

Flying bisons, overall, are pretty noticeable. When you're living underground, it's even more noticeable.

See that mound of dirt? That one over there? Where the sun is reflecting off of something red and shiny?

The red and shiny is attached to curious blue eyes.

Looking at youuuuu.

Smiles are good! Penance sits up just a little bit more, far enough to tentatively offer a smile of her own.

Not that she's coming out of the hole anytime soon, but that would mean she had to give up her escape route.

Penance blinks. On the bright side, the people here do seem to be pretty fond of waving - and that she can manage with two long, shiny fingers.

Hello!

...no, it is not a hedgehog-monkey. Though it is pretty interesting that hedgehog-monkeys can apparently wave.

Penance ducks down for a moment with his initial step forward, then starts to rise again, lifting her whole face out of her tunnel to blink at him.

Headtilt.

Two-fingered wave.

Penance smiles. This is the universal sign for friendly people! It's true, she knows!
