Kate still tried to do patrols around the city where she could. She was out on the streets, and underground, it was ok getting around. At least she was getting used to the extra weight. Kind of. She was wearing some looser clothes she found. There was a spare robe in the one of the rooms that was actually kind of comfortable. She then took a step, and paused. She then glanced and placed a hand to her stomach.

....Was that a kick?

"Are you sick, Kate?" the subway intercom system inquires.

Kate looked up, and around.

"Hi Kern, and not exactly. Just pregnant. I think the baby just kicked." She kept her hand on her stomach.

Yep, that's definitely a tiny foot kicking at her hand. It's weird in a sort of a cool way.

"Pregnant! That is... baby inside? Congratulations! When will you have?"

"Yeah, usually that how it works, and thanks. I'm not sure since no doctors up here, but thinking maybe April or May?"

"Ohhh... that is... how long?"

Kern: not so up on the Earth calendar yet.

"Well it's winter now, so sometime in the spring? Like four or five months?"

"Oooohhh... I am remembering that!"

It looks like you're having a baby! Would you like him to put that on your calendar to remind you?

"You can still patrol with baby?"

"For now, I'm not that huge yet." Another couple of months, it'll be a different story. Be harder to even draw her bow as well with having to maneuver around the extra weight.

"Do you need help to patrol? I am trying to. The castle is a part I can't get to. But I am trying to everywhere else. Do you know if it is a boy or a girl?"

Garo's seeming less and less human, lately. It's nothing physical (except, maybe, that his eyes are slightly more blue and slightly more luminous than they have been before), just an air about him of something other. A certain sharp watchfulness, too, as if he's aware of something that other people aren't.

It's not threatening, though. If anything, he keeps his distance, because he had a cigarette a couple of days ago, and what if the smoke is still on him (it isn't), and what if he gets too close and Kate inhales it and it reaches the baby and the baby's lungs explode. He doesn't want the baby's lungs to explode.

Garo worries about these things.

"Everything healthy, so far? You certainly seem, er ..." 'pregnant' is what he wants to say, but he gets the feeling that would be tactless. "... glowing?" He finishes, lamely.

Kate had noticed, and it was worrying a little. More so for his sake than anything else.

"I think so? It's harder without a doctor up here. And no, definitely not glowing." She felt huge, and her hair was looking more lank and straggly these days.

"Baby's kicking so think that's good."

"How far along are you?"

"Not sure. maybe five months or so? Least according to the baby books."

"Plenty of time to find a doctor, then."

"Not really, there's no way to tell if everything's ok. If they're healthy."

"Is there any reason why they wouldn't be?"

Kate frowned, "Well, there could be problems with development, defects that I don't know about. I mean I try to eat as healthy as I can, but I don't know."

She tilted her head at him, "Do you know of any way we can check without a doctor?"

Will's been trying to keep an eye on Kate when he can and not worry too much so he makes sure that his patrols tend to intersect with hers as often as possible.

Kate smiled and waved him over excitedly. She then blinked because she felt more kicks. Hard ones too.

"Will! Come here!"

He runs over, "What's goin' on, ye well, love?"

She grabbed his hand and placed it on her stomach.

"We got a little fighter."

There were more tiny kicks against their hands.

Will just beams, his face lighting up as he kisses her since he just doesn't have the words at the moment.

She kissed him back, their hands still linked on her stomach. More insistent kicks as her heart rate quickened from Will's kiss and closeness.

In time he breaks the kiss and smiles at her,

"Canna believe it, 'ow'd I get so lucky."

"Just did, and you're a good guy, should get something good for once."

She added, "Ran into Kern before, he's going to help me radio the farm and Metropolis for supplies. Maybe we can get a doctor up here to make sure they're ok."
