Never too soon to start baby into the habit of exercising!

Granted, "exercising" here involves "being strapped to her chest while Mom jogs," but Ralph at least seems to be enjoying himself. The fact that Sonia's braid is a wonderful chew toy may help here.

Both are, of course, bundled up reasonably for the winter weather. It's almost like home!

Bridgette, with a very serious face on, looks the baby up and down, then stares into his little baby face.

Bridgette suddenly grins, then reaches out to touch one of the little baby hands. (Manners? What manners?)

"Yeah," Bridge agrees. "He's the first baby I seen since I came here."

Bridgette holds her fingers just out of reach for a moment, then grabs Ralph's hand.

"They're toddlers," Bridge corrects. Not that she's a hundred percent sure what makes a toddler, but she sounds confident.

"Yes. Toddlers can walk and talk. Like Marie."

Bridgette glances at her sister, who's watching the two of them, frowning at her older sister. Hello, why is Bridge not playing with her?

Bridgette has an idea that makes her uncomfortable, and fidgets.

"Do you mind if Marie comes over and says hello to Ralph," deep breath in, "but don't worry she won't do anything bad 'cuz she's still my sister no matter what she is now."

Marie might like seeing a baby. Bridge doesn't know.

Bridgette does not do simple frowny faces when her sister's unique disabilities are mentioned.

She does glowery frowny faces.

"She's still my sister," Bridgette snaps, as if somehow Sonia's comments implied she wasn't.

"She wouldn't be evil no matter what she was," Bridgette clarifies, still glowering, "And you're stupid to think anything else! Stupid and mean!"

Really, this argument is more about Bridge having a temper tantrum than anything logical.

[identity profile] wearsredhelmet.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes!" Which is a lie. "And some are evil but some aren't 'cuz--!"

Oh, hey, Ralph's crying. Bridgette blinks, then falls silent. Ashamed, she mutters a quick, "Sorry," and hurries back to her snow man.

Marie's quite happy about this. Finally, Bridge wants to come back and play with her!

Yeah.

Sonia's a mom (and naturally knows what to do!), so Bridge doesn't offer to help, though she does have some baby-soothing experience.

She'll just play with her dead sister. Over here. Yeah.
