It took Sam about half an hour after he'd left the farm to realize he'd probably overreacted. And in the true fashion of ~~Winchesters~~ men everywhere, he decided the best course of action would be to wait until his brother forgot about it before going back.

He'd driven in a random direction before realizing there was nowhere to go. Maybe you're catching him on a pitstop out of Smallville, in some small town where it may or may not have been wise to stop. Or maybe you waited long enough to find him in Metropolis again, raiding book stores.

Eventually, he's got to find something useful. Right?

In that 'really very bad' sort of way, yes. Also in a way that has Sam frowning and considering a parallel to possession he'd never thought of before.

And doesn't like much.

"...wait, so he talked to you before he possessed you?"

On the positive front, Jubes doesn't seem all that shamed, just really embarrassed.

Because she hasn't thought of it that way yet.

"Yeah, for a bit."

There is a long silence as Sam tries to figure out how best to ask,

"How?"

Let's try that again.

"I mean..." He shakes his head, frowning at her a little. "He was a ghost first, just hanging out by what was left of his body? And he talked to you and then just... jumped in?"

"Yeah," she admits, feeling significantly smaller than she did five minutes ago. "I was only trying to help him."

Earlier look or not, that voice has Sam moving a little closer to her. "Hey," he says quietly, "none of this was your fault. You couldn't have known what would happen."

"I guess," Jubes admits, scuffing her boots on the road. Before it can get into a 'pity Jubes' angstfest, she looks up.

"So you don't know anything about side effects?"

From the way Sam blinks at her, it's obvious that he wasn't expecting a question like that.

"Side effects? Like what?"

"I mean, like..." Jubes falters.

"Alright, you have to promise not to tell anyone. 'Specially not my brother."

...Jubilee is the master of unintentional gut-punches.

Sam hesitates, frowns, but nods all the same. "I promise."

Swallowing hard, Jubes steals herself, then puts her fist through the window of Sam's Porsche.

Literally through. And there it is, Jubilation outside the car, her hand, wrist and half her forearm in, and the glass between completely intact.

Well, then.

It takes Sam a few moments to stop staring, jaw dropped and eyebrows lifted high. And then it's really just to move that look to Jubilation, too surprised to realize he might be insulting her.

"And that... started after we got you back?"

Well really, Jubes is too freaked out about it to be insulted by other people being freaked out.

"Yep. I couldn't do that before."

She pulls her hand back and flexes the fingers, demonstrating their tangibility.

Not that Sam can't relate to random powers. Those are just more physical than the ones he's used to.

If one can get used to things like that in the first place.

He runs a hand through his hair, more thoughtful than confused, and shakes his head. "Well, I've never heard of a ghost possessing people in the first place, and something like that... ghosts don't really have power, they can't make you do anything. They just do things to you.

"But I can look into it. Things are different here."

Duh.

"Well, this was done to me," Jubes answers.

"Thanks, though. I don't know what to do about it."

He nods, sympathetic. He hadn't meant to say it wasn't done to her, just...

"I'll look into it," Sam promises again. "I've been wanting to anyway."

He just has to pin Dean down long enough to guilt him into it.

Sam nods back the way he came. "Are you usually at the farm? You need a ride?"

She shakes her head. "Nah, I've got my plane just outside town. Should really take that back to Metropolis."

Sam nods, thoughtful for a moment before adding, "Leah - did you meet her? She's set up in Metropolis. She can contact me if you need anything else."

"No," Jubes didn't meet Leah. There were distractions. "What does she look like?"

Lots of distractions. Which is why Sam doesn't even know what happened to Jubes and Dick after he passed out.

"She didn't come into the house, she stayed out with the car. Around this tall," a hand gestured at (Sam's) chest-height, "blonde with a scarf over her eyes."

Taller than Jubes, then. (She's tiny, she's come to terms with it. And she's not done growing)

She makes a note of the description, but still has to add, "that's a strange disguise."

"Disguise?" She just gets a blank frown for that.

"The scarf over her eyes," Jubes continues, waving vaguely in the area. She's out of costume, but there are sunglasses pushed up on her head, like a Security blanket.

"...isn't it to hide her identity?"

Why is he frowning?

Sam blinks at her.

"...no, it's because she's blind." He's starting to smile, though. He'd forgotten about superheroes somehow, in the rush of everything else going on, but now it's back to being funny. "Are you... you know, one of the people that goes around fighting crime in disguise?"

And spandex?

"Oh."

Right, blindness, of course. Jubes is both intensely fascinated by this and suddenly feeling a bit awkward.

To the question, she shakes her head quickly. "No."

It's the kind of 'no' that means 'yes but I'm not going to tell you.'

Sam is well-versed in that kind of 'no.' He's been using it pretty much his entire life.

But at least he looks more light-heartedly amused than likely to tease Jubilation at this point. He nods and leans back against his car again. "A lot of people used to be. I think Leah was one of them. Anyway, she'll know how to find me and my brother if you need us."
