So Sam's gone off to Nebraska with Dean and Jo. this is good; Leah approves, especially as he took a radio so Leah can find him if she needs him.

She's determined not to need him. which is perfectly normal and just one of Leahs' 'totally independent and needs no one and ntohgin, thank you' quirks she's got going on. Besides, Oracle was true to her word and is providing Leah with plenty to do. In between missions from afar, she's busying herself with things that distract her from thinking about how much she wants him around.

One of those things is heavy metal music. Which is why she's leaving her apartment in Metropolis; she knows a market that occasionally trades in scavaneged goods. that they often contain CDs.

Catch her there or en route, or even on the radio - Innovator is always wired in.

Rachel shrugs a little. "I don't know. We didn't use guns last time."

As for Val, another shrug. "She lives at the farm and I don't go there. But if she runs through here again, I'll talk to her."

"Why...?" Leah cancels the question as soon as it's asked. "Never mind. I've got contacts at Cooperville. Shouldn't be hard.

"Anything else you think I should know?"

For a second, Rachel tenses, but Leah's reaction makes her smile in relief. Her chin settles back on her knee and she falls silent, thoughtful.

"I'll talk it over with Tobias. I can make a few more passes over Detroit, too, see if there's anything else that might be useful."

"Thanks," says Leah. "Be subtle. No point getting hurt before we're ready."

"Me? I'm the master of subtle."

That makes Leah laugh out loud.

"Yeah, you've always struck me that way."

"Grizzly bears are not meant to fly. That bit was absolutely not my fault."

"I don't think anything about grizzley bears makes for subtle," Leah points out.

"That would be why I like them."

Leah laughs again. "I knew there was something about you I liked."

Though that's why she wants Rachel hitting things hard with bear paws.

Hey, some people can fly with such precision that they lead the way in reconnaissance. Some people are such great shots that they're deadly warriors with a slingshot. Some people have minds so great that they're masters in gathering and implementing information.

And some people hit things hard with bear paws.

But Rachel just laughs. "Most people like that about me."

"I'll talk to Val," Leah says, as her grin subsides. "You talk to Tobias. We'll go when we're ready."

Which is soon, for Leah. but she can wait on others.

It's soon for Rachel, too. She just has to convince a few others first.

But for now, she's happy, beaming at Leah and nodding as she unfolds herself from the chair. "Got it. I'll be in touch."
