There's a pond! Or a little bit of sea, anyway. It's weird.

Though perhaps not as weird as the big earth bunker. Claire met the girl who made the big earth bunker. There was sarcasm, and lots of suspicious question. Claire doesn't think she's liked much in that quarter.

But now she's nowhere near the big earth bunker nor the house with Sylar-who-will-be in it, and out by the pond, sitting near the edge as she re-reads her book on Evolution.

Mr Muggles is crouching at the edge of the pond, occasionally barking at it.

Claire nods. "Yeah, but you're not the only person finding it strange.I already gave Sokka the tour of the kitchen."

"'avena met 'im yet but Jona didna know 'bout things either an think Tom's world is closer to mine then anyone I've talked to so far."

"So you're not alone at least," Claire fills in.

"It's not that exciting, really."

A slightly painful shrug, "Tis different is all an na 'nough trees at all."

Claire cringes a little at the awkwardness of the shrug.

"What did you do to your back?"

And back comes the awkward,

"Um well, got caught by the Sheriff an 'e 'eld me for three days an um.."

There is no good way to say in the English language to say and flogged me till I bled, so he won't, now she'll get all quiet like Jona did.

"Oh," Claire says quickly, cuttin ghim off before the 'um' can be followed by awkward silence.

"Sorry, shouldn't have asked."

"Nay, tis fine, naught for ye to 'pologize for, know tis obvious since 'urts so. Been gettin' cared for an 'ealin' well as I can."

Claire nods sympathetically, and glances quickly towards her now-discarded book.

Maybe my blood can help...

"Just take care of it," she says. "Have you checked the house for ointments and stuff?"

He follows her gaze but Will can't read so doesn't know why the book would hold any answers,

"'ave been an aye, been cleanin' 'em an all, naught's festerin' just 'urts is all. Are ye studyin' to be a physician?"

Claire, naturally, assumes he can read, and that's where the question came from.

"What, this? No, I'm really not smart enough for medicine. But it interests me? Genetics and stuff."

"Dinna know what genetics are an 'ow can ye na be smart 'nough for medicine, Tuck knows 'ow to 'eal us an would say Allan's more clever but 'e's also Allan."

"Maybe medicine's changed a lot since your time," Claire suggested. "In my time you need lots of schooling to become a doctor. And I don't really have the grades."

"Tuck was a monk for a time an learned 'bout 'erbs an such there, dinna know what proper physician 'ave to do, since dinna know if Nottingham's e'er 'ad any. Grades?"

"At school," Claire fills in quickly. "Every kids goes in my time."

Will's just going to look awkward again, "Oh aye, must be nice. Who pays the coin for that?"

"The government," Claire offers. "So everyone who pays taxes, I guess."

"Why would they do that. Shouldna it be the choice o'the Sheriff o'yer Shire if folks get educated or na or least o'each Lord for 'is manor since they'd be payin' for it?"

Pause.

"OK, I think this might end up in a full explanation of the history of Democracy, and I got a C in that."

Will just looks awkward again and slowly stands up, turning towards the house,

"Um, aye, forgive me, should just let ye be then. I'll ask someone else 'nother time since guess doesna truly matter."

Claire frowns. "I didn't mean go.I was just warning you."

"Nay, tis fine, should probably go rest anyway, na been sleepin' well."

Just better this way, all his conversations with women seem to end awkwardly, clearly there's something wrong with Will.

"OK,"Claire says, worried she's caused this somehow. "Sleep well."

Slightly yes but he would deny it if she asked him so Claire gets a stiff bow as Will heads to his bed in the odd earthen house,

"Thank ye."
