Maria took Steph and Sokka and Jim all back to Kansas in a blink, after a long argument in which Mel promised at least five times that no one would die, leaving the four Fray girls to get the flying car back on their own. Or, as only one of them actually has a license, Erin to get the car back while Mel sits with her arms full of babies, looking decidedly comfortable.
"So, you're gonna want to hear the story now, aren't you?"

"No... I think I would have noticed another big red guy in Haddyn," Erin replied. "You only see so many of those leaping around on rooftops."

But they've lost the thread of the original conversation, and while Mel's talking about it, she might as well get it over.
"But Zuko was just a normal guy. 'Scept for the flamethrower thing, of course. Lots of people on his world could do that. Sokka's... his real sister, she could do stuff with water."

"Too right," she agrees, before shrugging with one shoulder. Someone who knew her well would pick upi on the frozen edge to her smile now.
"He didn't come through this time. Far as I know, he's still in Eden."

"Coming from my own limited experience, this reality-hopping thing sounds like a real bitch at times," Erin said. "Any way you might find a portal back? Or to a way to open a portal back to here?"

"Rather stay here, though. That place was toxic. Not right for kids."
And that, more or less, is all she's concerned about.

"And neither do the smart people, each time. I'm guessing, though, that this place is hit more by the portals than anything else. The locals don't recognise the monsters any more than we do."

Mel smirks, as if she's rather amused by that idea. But she flips a switch to power the guns up just in case.

"How far up were you?"
Y'know, for him to fall without a car.

She shifted slightly in her seat and decided a change of topic was probably best. "So this Kansas place... Anything special about it other than being safe?"
no subject
"No monsters, or portals, far as I know. Much more survivors. Group of immigrants living just outside Metropolis, including the girl got us to Gotham."

Erin would scratch the back of her neck, only her hands are full of babies.
"Everyone gets to Kansas, 'cause it's safe. I didn't much want to hang out with the refugees, though." Cause of the babies. "'Til I had a dream with this - OK, you're goig to think I'm spun."
Like she doesn't get that a lot anyway. "Had a dream told me the girls were in New York."

"Mel? Back home I saw you... Well okay another you... rip through a mob of lurks with a giant battle axe and then take out a giant... dragon-thing by slicing through its head," Erin replied. "Also I just popped into a new world where there are monsters, a new version of you that has babies that belch smoke and a girl who can teleport anywhere she wants."
"Trust me... a dream telling you where to go to find your kids? So not spun-worthy at this point. I however keep wondering if I'm going to wake up in some ward back in Haddyn."

"Nah, there's always something to surprise you, believe me. Best to just go with it, though."
