Kate slept in, the few dreams she had were nightmares of war, and of blinding cold imprisonment. She was outside in the field near the Cooper farm, going through katas as a warmup, despite the still bandaged leg. And then taking her bow, and firing some arrows into a makeshift target (bales of hay). If she seems especially focused on the targets as she fired, a distraction would still be appreciated.

"At least Will is doing better, then." Sam frowns.

"A little bit. How are you?" She fired another pair of arrows toward the target before finally putting her bow down. She'll fetch the arrows back in a moment, but right now she was looking back at Sam.

"I'm the same as always." Sam shrugs.

"Not been coughing at least then?" She asked before she headed over to retrieve her arrows back from the hay.

"Haven't really been straining myself." Sam says, shrugging. "Besides, it's nothing that bad when I do. Just coughing."

"Good, so you're healed up from the trip now?" Her leg was still healing, and was sore.

"Yeah. As much as I ever get healed up," Sam shrugs. "My respiratory system is sort of ... constantly in a state of simultaneously falling apart and healing itself up, so I'm never exactly healthy."

She frowned at that, "Why?"

"I got infected with a fatal disease that only affects magic-users. It's kept in check by a healing factor I acquired before that, so I don't end up dying a horrible suffocate-y death."

".....There's no cure or way to get rid of that disease completely?"

"Considering the majority of people who would want to cure it died within a week, it's really difficult to say."

"....I'm sorry."

"Don't be. It stopped me dead in my tracks on my admittedly somewhat maniacal quest for godlike power, so it can't be that bad."

"Oh," She remarked, "Sounds a little like Kang. Long story. He was our friend and yet he was supposed to grow up to be called Kang the Conquerer and a great enemy and villain against the Avengers."

"Good name for a conquerer, Kang."

"I guess so, he was the one from the 60th Century. Called himself Iron Lad when he wore the armor he brought back in time with him."

"I never really wanted to conquer anything. I just wanted power for its own sake." Sam shrugs. "What happened to him?"

"I see. Well, that's complicated. The adult version was killed because of us. And then the younger version had to go back to the future to become him since otherwise the timeline would be damaged and half of our team wouldn't have existed."

"Timelines are messy things."

"Definitely, and now I know why the older heroes call anything with time travel being a major headache."

"I once knew a guy whose consciousness stretched simultaneously from his birth to his death, so he percieved everything that had and would ever happen to him, all the time." Sam says. "That ... was confusing at best. Predestination and stuff."

"I can't even begin to imagine how somebody would live like that."

"I can't wrap my head around it, either."

Kate nodded and then decided to fire a few more arrows, unsure what more to say on that. She was a good shot, clearly.

"How long have you been learning to use a bow?"
