Clark is not nervous. Not at all. That pacing he's doing outside Chloe's apartment building? Totally not nerves. It's just a second date and the first one was the one he was nervous over. This one should be a breeze.

He just needs a minute.

Finally, after taking a quick look around to make sure no one's watching, he takes a deep breath and speeds up to her apartment, knocking lightly on the door.

It's hard to not just walk in.

He nods in response and honestly, it feels really kind of good that she has such total faith in him. It helps, a little. But if Clark sets a slow, careful and deliberate pace to start with, Chloe's just going to have to forgive him. Not only is he trying not to hurt her, he's also trying not to put holes in her mattress.

She appreciates that. Because even a slow and deliberate pace feels good. He can probably tell, given the way her nails are digging in to his back and the groans that escape her mouth.

Chloe begins to meet his pace easily enough. If she starts to pick it up a little, it's only because she has confidence that he's not going to ruin her mattress.

As has been established, Clark responds well to positive feedback. The feel of her nails pressing into his skin (and he can feel it) and knowing those incoherent sounds she's making are because of him, well, all that is a much needed ego boost.

When Chloe changes the rhythm, Clark has no trouble keeping up and his own incoherent noises increase as well. Occasionally, though, he just breathes out her name.

She begins to echo him, whispering his name as they continue. It's getting harder to focus on anything anymore and, eventually, her climax is reached.

Chloe clings on to him harder at this point, repeating his name again and again.

And that's enough to push Clark over the edge as well, although he's far more controlled about it, with tension in his jaw and his eyes shut tight.

There's also likely a crack in the headboard, as it was the closest thing he could think of to grab on to that wasn't Chloe.

As soon as things start to register to her again, Chloe starts to laugh over the loud crack.

She's kind of certain that she's never going to be able to explain why her headboard now has a pretty bad dent in it, but she doesn't care.

Chloe kisses his lips softly before opening her eyes and smiling at him. "You didn't hurt me."

Clark needs another minute to get his breathing back under control. After she kisses him, he turns his head to the side and opens one eye slowly. When nothing bursts into flame, he opens the other and looks back at her, kissing her again.

"No, but I did sort of break your bed," he points out, settling beside her and brushing her hair off her face. "But it wasn't you."

Chloe giggles. "I heard. Something we'll have to work on then, Clark."

Then, curiously, she looks downward. "So, um, how'd that condom hold up?"

This may be her attempt to get him to blush again. Or genuine curiosity. Who knows.

Clark frowns and follows her gaze.

"It didn't," he answers with a sigh, removing the sacrificed piece of latex and reaching over to drop it in the garbage. "Sorry."

Chloe winces a little before chuckling nervously. "Good thing we're two different species then."

Pause.

"Um. There aren't any alien-STDs I should know about, are there?"

"Yeah, I don't think we're compatible in that way," Clark says in what he hopes is a reassuring tone. And then he gives her an odd look. "Uh, not that I'm aware of? I don't get sick, anyway."

Then he adds after a brief pause. "Well, twice, I guess but those were special circumstances."

"Okay."

She can live with that. She's pretty sure of it anyway.

"Good to know," Chloe murmurs before yawning sleepily. She moves closer to Clark, resting against his arm. "Think you can you stay the night? I'll order take out from Szechuan Palace"

Clark smiles and kisses her forehead, slipping that arm around her and tugging her closer.

"That sounds good. I doubt I'll be missed for one night."

"Cool," Chloe murmurs as she snuggles up against him.

She closes her eyes, content just to lay there. A nap before dinner hasn't ever hurt anyone.

And it probably never will.

Clark smiles again and closes his eyes as well, though chances are he won't fall asleep. Just listening to Chloe's familiar heartbeat is relaxing enough.
