Charlie is headed down the road towards the Cooper farm on foot today, enjoying the winter weather. For the first time, perhaps, she's coming without supplies of any kind. Sort of like a little test to see if she gets tossed off the property.

ooc: Yeah, small attention span since moving. Trying to do better. And yes, new PB. Again. Will answer tags in the morning.
warning: Smut of the clark/charlie kind.

At some point, between spending time with Chloe, going back to what's left of Coast City and visiting other cities to help with their clean up efforts (whether they know it or not), Clark has managed to obtain a truck. A red one, which makes him wistful if not something bordering on happy.

It's also an old one, so currently, Clark can be found outside the front of the house, making a valiant effort to try and get it running again. There is also a rather significant pile of lumber a few yards away, which he's been collecting for a while. Someone has plans to finally start building something.

The pool out the back remains murky, and occasionally bubbly. It seems to have acquired a patina of grease.

After some time, the baby kraken hauls itself out, tentacles suctioning on to dry Kansas grass and dirt, and flops, exhausted by the effort, to snooze in the sun by its pool.

His skin is a little less slimy than usual, and his colour has faded somewhat. Those listening might hear the occasional sad whimper of "Mama?"

If the house has gained new residents, Clark is likely only marginally aware. That what happens when you purposefully stop paying attention. He figures it's easier that way. Not to mention he's been spending a lot of time either in Metropolis or at the caves sorting things out.

Today, however, Clark is at the house, sitting on the front steps (because he can't see the boat from this side) and drinking a cup of coffee. Should anyone want to talk to him about anything, now's as good a time as any.

Barbara will never stop being grateful that whatever brought her here decided to grab Dinah and Zinda with her. She isn't sure she could have held it together this long on her own.

Zinda had found a small airstrip in New Jersey and they'd topped of their fuel tanks (and found no one anywhere near the airport). It was a bit eerie to find entire towns with no signs of life, and Barbara suppressed a sigh of relief as they picked up signs of movement on the ground when they overflew Metropolis.

The airport wasn't really being maintained, but they'd found a clear runway and Zinda had brought them in without any help from air-traffic control. Barbara smiled just a bit, apparently hiring a Blackhawk had been an even better choice than she'd imagined.

As they taxi to a stop Barbara shoots a look over her shoulder at Dinah, "It may be time to roll out the red carpet. Looks like we've got visitors."

Jack has found books!

OK, so the pirate probably looks a bit weird, leaning back in a chair, his boots crossed on a table as he soaks up Homer's Odyssey and muches on an apple.Bt there he is.

And he's reading the Greek and the English as the pages come up, all very interested in the fact the two languages exist.

Valerie Bell is lounging around in front of the Cooper house, waiting for someone who looks vaguely in charge to wander by.

Until then, she's shamelessly showing off her mutant powers by juggling innumerable chunks of dirt with twelve glowing white tentacles.

Hey, it's an excercise in coordination! Right. Yep. Uh-huh.

Claire thinks she's adapted quite well to this whole new world thing. Even if all she's done is sleep on a floor for a night and found a kitchen this morning. She did it wothout freaking out once.

The problem now, as she stands in the kitchen looking blank, is how she's going to feed the yappy little Pomeranian at her feet.

The trip from St. Louis didn't really take long.

However since the trip involved a stubborn 12 year old earth bender and a snarky 15 year old precog?

It felt like it took forever.

So when Jamie pulled to what he thought was the Madrox farm he was disappointed to find that in this dimension? Totally not his.

"Great. Just great. Five hours in a car with insane teenagers and all for nothing."

"On the contrary," Layla said pulling out the bag of fresh fruit she had taken from an abadoned roadside stand and getting out of the car. "This is exactly where we need to be."

(I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain)

(I wore my coat with golden lining)

(To see for certain what I thought I knew)

(Bright colours shining, wonderful and new)

(Far far away, someone was weeping)

(And in the east, the dawn was breaking)

(But the world was sleeping)

Maybe she thought to surprise him. Or maybe she was just curious to see who else lived in the Cooper household. Either way, Chloe pulls her Volkswagen Beetle up in front of the house. She checks her reflection quickly in the rear view mirror before smiling and stepping out.

As she walks towards the front door, she can't help but look around for that supposed space ship. If Clark is home, she's totally making him show it to her.

If he isn't? Well, she can totally have fun getting to know his friends at any rate.

One moment 46 was in her brightly lit room, reading with the UV lamp on, waiting for her turn to run the tunnel. The next she's outside, and it's evening - it wasn't evening before, was it? - and there's no one around.

No one.

No walls.

No engineers.

No scientists.

Nobody to touch.

She hovers on the edge of panic, turning around and around wildly, searching for a direction that has people in it.

There are rather a lot of people staying at Lucy's house.

She finds this mildly interesting.

Currently, she's dealing with it by sitting in the kitchen going through a very large basket of apples one fruit at a time.

Anyone visiting or residing at the Cooper household who isn't one of the select few Lucy considers family? Now's your chance to talk to her without getting eaten.

Clark is in a sickeningly good mood. There may be whistling. It's probably not because he's restocking the kitchen cupboards with the latest canned goods obtained in town earlier.

He may or may not tell you actually why, depending on who you are and how you ask.

Let's play a game of Where's Lucy!

Is she in the hallway? On the stairs? In the bedrooms? Down the back of the sofa?

Wherever she is, Gabriel's looking for her. He wants to pick her brains about the sleeping arrangements. Who knows who he'll run into on his quest? See, he has this distressing tendency not to knock.

Eden is really quiet. Really, really, really quiet.

Steph yawns, rolls over and sits up, sighing, ready but not particularly eager to face another day of placating Tim and pretending she's not going out of her mind with boredom -- and blinks away the afterimages of the flash and the noise to find herself sitting on dirt, red dirt, on a rocky cliff overlooking a beach that's scattered with rubble and ochre rocks.

"Wow."

Sure, it's not a very friendly beach, and the wind is cold and sharp, but it's a beach. There's water as far as she can see. The immense grin that spreads over her face suggests exactly what her feelings are about being landed in a new world.

However, it's a lot colder here than Eden. And Steph, in bare feet, sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt that she dug up from the hotel, isn't exactly equipped for a hike.

There's a fire a little bit that way, judging by the line of smoke. She can't hear anything over the roar of the waves crashing against the rocks, but fire's gotta mean people, right?

Steph starts walking, still with that giant smile.

"... Cool."

There are some things you just don't forget how to do. Even after two years of being a fine upstanding pillar of the community, Mel falls into being a leach within a couple of days.

Her penthouse apartment took some cleaning, where she could be bothered, and then she just switched back to the semi-nocturnal lifestyle of the thief.

Of course, because she's still Mel, she's been focusing on buildings that look abandoned and empty, and one or two people may have found that their rationing is being supplemented by things left around by a mysterious benefactor.

But she doesn't talk to anyone, and is herself putting a dent in the city's alcohol supply, many evenings, sitting in a bar and drinking until she's ready to return to the empty rooms in which she sleeps.

It's an expensive habit, given the desirability of alcohol these days. But she's areally good thief.

It's early in the evening now, and she's only just bought her first stupidly expensive bottle of the night, sitting and staring at it before she starts the serious business of forgetting her kids.

Dreamer is cleaning bloodstains out of Shay's boat fort.

It's taking a lot longer than she thought.

Certainly long enough that she forgot why she started in the first place, but hey. Not like she has anything better to do.

Slosh. Clank. Scrubscrubscrub. Slosh.

This is oddly restful.

Clark is not nervous. Not at all. That pacing he's doing outside Chloe's apartment building? Totally not nerves. It's just a second date and the first one was the one he was nervous over. This one should be a breeze.

He just needs a minute.

Finally, after taking a quick look around to make sure no one's watching, he takes a deep breath and speeds up to her apartment, knocking lightly on the door.

It's hard to not just walk in.

The noticiable thing about Medusa is that she has wings - large, gold feathered wings. What isn't so noticable about her is that the girl has claws. Brass, to be exact, and retractable like a cat's.

The thing about claws and cats is that cats scratch things, keep the claws sharp and tone their muscles and even though Medusa is mostly bird, she is also cat.

And so, she is sitting in a tree, running her claws down the trunk.

It could be worse, she could be using metal or stone. And that is painful to hear.
