Sam is being musical.

Which is to say he's up on the roof of the farmhouse with a leaf at his lips playing a slow, pleasant tune. He does that a lot. It's a thing.

Josh grins a lot. They are almost always genuine, too.

"This is fun."

"I know." It isn't long before Sam is setting the car down outside of a recently abandoned pub and hopping out.

Josh peers out the window for a moment before opening her door and getting out.

"No one's here?"

"Abandoned. Still got good alcohol, and good food in the fridges and freezers." Sam says. "Ours for the taking - I know it's not exactly a five star restaurant with gourmet meals, but these things are the first to go after an apocalypse, you know."

"It's wonderful." She jumps up to the curb and, in her heeled boots, she's tall enough to brush his cheek with her lips.

"Thanks."

"No problem." Sam replies, cheerfully. "Fruit all day gets boring very quickly. And I think the ham is for the kraken. Off limits."

"I know. Still, at least meat can be found in other places. For the moment, at least."

"Probably a good thing I don't need to eat, then," she comments, pushing the door open.

"Need is one thing, but eating is fun."

"I didn't think there would be."

The pub had been abandoned in a hurry, and Josh steps delicately over a broken chair.

"So, I can offer you a choice of several almost identical brands of beer." Sam calls, stepping behind the bar.

"The third one."

"Are you sure?" Gravely. "Because you know you can't change brands once you've picked."

"I like three."

"Three is a good choice." Sam pours a glass, sliding it over the bar towards Josh.

"Cheers," she says, lifting it up and toasting him.

"Cheers. I'm going to go see if there's any food."

"Call out if something eats you first."

"If you here me shrieking, that'll be why."

"Want me to rescue you?"

"I'm sure I'll manage to get out myself." Sam replies, wandering away into another room.

She clicks her fingers in disappointment, watches him go, and drinks her beer.

Interesting place.

The blood on the walls really adds to the ambience.
