Well.

Gray has managed to arrive at the Cooper place, and after parking his stolen Dodge Viper beside the white Mini Cooper ~~(ahaha the narration just got that)~~, takes the scenic route back around to the front of the house.

He likes walking.

Jona seems to find it worth a giggle, at least. Then again, she finds that of a lot of things.

In any case: "And there are lots of people, and free food, and nobody murders anybody else."

These are all, in her experience, good things.

"I can imagine you might enjoy that."

She seems to be the extroverted sort.

And lack of murder's always good.

"I do." Still grinning.

"Oh-oh-oh, have you ever had a grilled cheese sandwich?" Because if you haven't, she's making you one now. Whether you like it or not. "Cheese on bread and then you put it in a really hot box and it's gorgeous."

"...I'm aware of the phenomenon, yes."

Good God, she's so cheerful.

Would you believe that it's one of her best features?

"Do you want one? I can make some. I can use all the boxes in the kitchen now." The little one that just makes toast, and the big hot one, and the little round hot things on top, and the big cold one, and and and! Jona has MAD SKILLS.

"...congratulations."

Yes, all right, he's mocking her, but it's mostly good-natured mockery.

Mostly.

"And no thank you."

...Aww.

"When you change your mind, just ask," she offers. "I'll owe you one."

Owe him one for what? Are you mad? Grilled cheese sandwiches need no excuse!

"I'll remember."

And he will, too. He doesn't need a stolen talent to retain the kind of well-organised mind that will, five years hence, stop Jona in the hallway and ask if she wouldn't mind giving him that grilled cheese sandwich now he's worked up an appetite.
