Well.

Gray has managed to arrive at the Cooper place, and after parking his stolen Dodge Viper beside the white Mini Cooper ~~(ahaha the narration just got that)~~, takes the scenic route back around to the front of the house.

He likes walking.

That's funny, Thomas likes walking too! Although, his walking is a little different, wherin he lifts one leg, stretches it forward five feet, and then retracts. It's got a kind of easy slow pace that is just made for slouching. Thomas nods his head to the new guy. "Hey."

Gray raises his eyebrows.

He has quite a bit of eyebrow, so it takes a while.

"Hello."

Thomas cannot resist raising an eyebrow back. His goes up much, much further. "You're a new face, ain'tcha?"

"Yes."

"Oh, ah..." Thomas offers his hand, trying for a smile. He's not so good at it. " 'M Thomas."

"Gray."

He'd say 'nice to meet you', but it's not, particularly.

Thomas tilts his head to one side, studying the man. "It's, an apt name, I suppose."

"Hmm?"

...

He looks down at himself.

Well. Hanging around with Ish has its consequences, it would seem.

"--yes, I suppose so."

Quiet chuckle.

"So, what did you do, before the end?" As good a a question as any.

"Excuse me?"

Thomas scratches his head. "Where were you before here?"

"Somewhere else."

Read: none of your business.

Thomas holds up his hands. "All right, I can see you don't want to talk."

Jona has vague periphery experience of doubles. She just hasn't realised on quite what scale the farm is being invaded by Gabes and Grays and Sylars.

She peers as she passes him on her way to the kitchen. (She's not actually technically headed for the kitchen at this moment, but no matter where she goes she always seems to end up there. The once-wraithlike girl is filling out nicely.)

With open curiosity: "You're not the one with the sea monster, are you?"

"...no?"

What the hell?

"...I guess it's more of a lake monster, isn't it?" admits Jona. Though sea monster, in her humble opinion, sounds far more impressive.

"What," he asks patiently, "are you talking about?"

"The monster."

Point.

"In the lake," she adds helpfully.

"...so I'd gathered."

"Apparently it's supposed to eat people, but there are a couple of guys who feed it instead. And one of them's one of you."

And thus, the conversation comes full circle.

"Ah."

(Ish, explain this.)

(Well, basically, it seems that when you're dealing with an infinite number of universes, it is inevitable that in some cases doubles of people will occur. Ish has one herself; she's nice, if a little gaudy. Gray has several, though they're not as cute as him. The krakenling is merely a fringe detail.)
