[OOS: Oliver gets cranky when he’s tired.]

Oliver has been doing a lot of walking. He's been talking to a lot of neighbours, and during those conversations he mentioned his abilities. Not everybody believed him, and not everybody wanted to take him up on his offer...but a few did. He's been patrolling their fields to increase their fertility. The land here is good - like a warm cup of tea on a cold day, like fine wine after a heavy meal.

He's patrolling around the Cooper house right now, for a much different reason. One step methodically in front of the other. He whispers words underneath his breath, gaze distant.

Once he finishes, he goes over to the earth bunker to set up some more Wards. Judging from his leisurely pace (which is not entirely due to the limp in his right leg), he could be interrupted.

"Rat nest?" Clearly that has some other meaning because Oliver is not a cat.

"Oh, ah, rat-skin. Demons that devour the souls of men and steal their bodies, having the ability to shapeshift into beasts and perform demonic magics."

This is the second this has happened. He'll either have to get to the 'demon' explanation more quickly, or remember to add the word 'skin' at the end.

"Urgh." Definitely not a good thing. "But, y'had help, right?"

"Other Godsworn of my abbey, yes." After a moment, "Fewer each year, it seems."

And now one fewer.

"I just hope... someone else can do somethin' back home."

She sighs. "You figure we'll be any good here? There's... there's gotta be somethin' here, right? Gotta be.

"Other than the ghost city, 'least." She is SO not going back there without an army.

Oliver gives Sonia a small, confident smile.

"Where there is evil, there will always be those that fight it," Oliver assures her. "And from what I saw of this world on my journey here, it has much darkness in it. There are still people wandering this world, at the mercy of its foul creatures. We are needed."

She nods, gripping her whip. "Yeah... God musta had a reason t'make this happen, after all." So she's hopefully not being punished! Hopefully!

"All we can do is pray to Him for the wisdom to understand what He wills for us," Oliver agrees.

"Yeah." She smiles, wanly.

"You mind some company while you're wardin'?"

"Of course, though I warn you I won't be talkative - I need to say the holy words while I Ward."

"That's okay. I'm not much good at talkin' anyway."

She's just glad to be in the company of the one kind of person she's pretty sure she can trust.
