Clark is in a sickeningly good mood. There may be whistling. It's probably not because he's restocking the kitchen cupboards with the latest canned goods obtained in town earlier.

He may or may not tell you actually why, depending on who you are and how you ask.

Watch Clark try not to roll his eyes.

"Ah, well, I guess they've been around the longest, Lucy and I aside. And Eden. I forget who all else is here."

"Ah. Eden."

Intuition is a firm believer in the precept that if you have nothing good to say, you should say nothing.

So she remains silent.

"Yeah. She's nice." And more or less normal, which gets major points in Clark's book.

Inty's not so sure about that.

"She frightened Gabriel," she says softly. "She made him stay still."

"Did she." Not a question, just a thoughtful filing away of information.

"I'm sure she thought she had a good reason."

"She thought so, yes."

That really doesn't make up for her doing that to Gabriel, especially since Intuition happens to know he was no threat to her.

"And it obviously didn't last, since he seems to be moving around just fine." Not that Clark isn't bothered by the idea, it's just... circumstances. They are different here.

...How to explain this logically?

"She met someone in her world. He was... who Gabriel would have been in seven years, if things had turned out differently for him." It would've sounded pretentious to explain that things mostly mean Intuition, in this case. "She acted as though Gabriel was that man, even though he isn't and she knew that." Inty is confused by this.

"You know, it's not all that easy to separate someone you knew back home when you meet a different one here." It's almost like he's speaking from experience!

"It sounds like it got sorted out, though."

Patiently, "This isn't like Chloe. Gabriel is seven years younger than the man she knew. They don't even dress alike. And she acted--" Is that a sniffle? "--as though he were going to murder her at any moment. Even after I let her know he wasn't." Yes. Yes it is. This is an upsetting subject for Inty.

Murder? Not that Gabe struck Clark that way but still.

"If that's how she knows him, I can't say I'd blame her for being intiially wary."

The good thing about being Intuition is that you see everyone's point of view.

The problem with being Intuition right now is that you don't care, because the man you love was-- violated by a strange woman even though she knew he wasn't who she'd thought he was.

"That's how she knows someone else," says Inty in a tone halfway between plea and surrender. "She knew Gabriel wasn't him."

"Maybe she did," Clark replies neutrally, "but she knows what he becomes in her world." And he's getting the impression whatever that is, it's not good. "It's natural to be cautious and as I said, it sounds like she backed off. If she does it again, then I think we have a problem."

"My Gabriel," says Intuition with flat certainty, "is never going to become that."

She shakes her head.

"You're right, though. I don't have a problem with her so long as she doesn't touch his mind again."

"I didn't say he was, just that's what she knows of him." He considers the woman carefully. "If she does, I'd appreciate it if you let me know."

"I will."

That's not all she'll do, of course, but it's a start.

"Good," he nods. "Thank you. I'd like to think I can reason with her if necessary."

"That would be much appreciated."

Which... says nothing to whether or not he can do it, of course.

And he's making no guarantees.

"So we have an agreement, then," he says, in lieu of knowing what else to say at the moment.

Inty nods almost cheerfully, suddenly looks distressed.

This would be the realization that Clark is standoffish about her because she knows things most people don't.

...She can't exactly reassure him that it's unintentional without further aggravating the situation.

Intuition is not fond of being disliked in such a manner.

Ack!

It's not dislike so much as it's caution. And mild distrust. And Clark would feel the same about anyone else who had a similar ability. He's just too private a person to be comfortable with it.

That aside, he does give her a small and fairly genuine smile. "Well, feel free to help yourself to whatever we've got. It's not much, but we're getting there."

It still makes Inty mildly uncomfortable.

But there isn't much she can do about that, so she smiles back and shrugs.

"Thank you."

Look, she even remembered to say it in English this time!

Oh, look. More awkward silence.

"I'll see you around, then."

"Yes."

Dammit.

She wanders off, feeling distinctly unsatisfied.
