So, Silent Hill was a bust. In that it didn't exist.
Ashfield, she's found, is in the same boat. The same not-existing boat.
This world SUCKS.
Now, Laura has siezed on a new plan: go to the closest city she knows of that HAS to exist.
There's a New York City everywhere, right?
This requires more walking, of course, but that's nothing she hasn't done before.
And there were a few intact stores on the way. Hooray for new underwear!

The rattling gets louder. Something - is definitely moving on the other side of the wall. We know this, because it is moving the greenery.

The mudkip is still cowering, though at least cowering along with them. "Don't be such a baby," she orders it, trotting to a garbage can.
She climbs up, hoping she can stretch high enough to see over. Val can come help if he wants. She'll let him. She guesses.

OK, more than kind of. Trees normally move in the wind, or if something's in them. They don't... walk.

Should they run away? Or investigate? Both are tempting. . .

"KIIIP!" The little blue creature tackles Laura just in time, the spines zhiffing past and piercing a boarded window above.
