This castle was pretty impressive, Kate had found her way up to what was once the owlery as evidenced by some fossilized owl droppings and pellets that she found around as she headed up for a good view of the city. Easy to track triffids movements from here when they're out, and she was going to do patrols around to find where there might be other survivors like Jessica around here. Or just new arrivals in need of help. But at least, had the start of a base and headquarters with some supplies already. Including what Garo and Will had brought up. Hopefully Nathan will bring more, and more volunteers.

She had asked him to write a notice on the farm board, and leave information in Metropolis to anybody who might be interested in coming up and helping. Including a special message to Teddy to update him on her location. Also apologies to Mel for leaving the farm and patrol on short notice, and her thanks to Dinah for the practice help.

But her city needed her she felt, and she didn't think it was lost just yet.

It takes some searching but Will finds Kate and hugs her saying,

"Been talkin' to Garo, think we might try sparrin' tomorrow."

A hug back.

"Oh? Just be careful, though good idea. We all need the practice, and gotta stay in shape for attacks."

She added, "And turns out this place had a resident already. There's a girl named Laura, kind of sour, but she's ok. She knows most of this place."

"Oh aye, that's useful then. An aye, think will be good for both o'us an we'll try to na get too beat up. 'ow are ye, love?"

He traces her face and gives her a small kiss.

"Fine, got a tour around some of this already. There's bathrooms, and found the infirmary area. Definitely need that."

She did smile, and kissed him back. She felt a lot more sure of herself since coming up here. She was finding a purpose again.

"Aye, do at that."

He can see that and it makes him happy so he gives her another kiss.

Her arms looped around him, and there was a soft noise of affirmation from her.

After a moment, she paused in between kisses, "How are you settling in? You still ok with this? It's lot safer back in Kansas."

"Aye, I am, 'ad a 'ard moment o'thinkin' 'bout the dungeons but gettin' better."

She hugged him again, "You don't have to go down there, can stay up high. You're gonna have to either get used to high building jumping, or traveling in subways to get through the city though."

"Dinna mind bein' up 'igh, like bein' in trees but na quite. What's a subway?"

"Well, when this city ran more, they were trains... long moving cars that travel on metal rails underground."

"If ye're with me, I'll manage an do me best to 'old back the dark."

She brought her hand up to stroke his cheek, and then gently brush his hair back from his face.

"I will, I'm sorry, Will. It's one of the only places those plants won't go."

He nods and holds her tightly, "Will be brave."

"I know you will." She then leaned up for another kiss on the lips.

Gently, he kisses back, pulling her into his arms and almost lifting her off her feet, she gives him such hope.

She smiled against his lips, and deepened the kiss as she tightened her arms around him.

He inhales the scent of her in the kiss and breaks it off, leaning against her forehead,

"Love, 'fore I lose me courage, let's see this places' depths."

She peered back at him.

"You sure?"

"Aye."

His eyes hold a lot of pain but he wishes to do this for her and himself.

"I love you, you can do this. Ok?" And she gave him one more kiss, and squeezed his hand to reassure him.

"Aye, with ye beside me sure I can."

"I got you, you'll do fine." She then lead them over to the stairs.

He keeps tight hold of her hand as they move down into the main castle.

"You're doing fine," She was going to keep whispering words of encouragement to him as they walked down the steps. And kept walking downward more and more.
