(no subject)
It's disorienting, to go from one's comfortable home in the forest of the Grotto with it's thick, tall trees and unending number of hiding spaces, and then suddenly be somewhere else.
Especially when somewhere else looks like this... once you replace all the buildings aside from the arch with rubble.
Despite the silence that she moves with and that her new place is completely effective in hiding every inch of her, it really won't be hard to find out where she's gone: follow the claw marks, in the ground and in the rubble.
She'll be watching.

When Lucy's out flying - and she often is - the arch is a nice place to land for a while. Tall. Lucy likes tall places.
Possibly the landing of a long-limbed, skinny sort-of-dragon with glossy black scales on that arch will provoke interest.
Possibly not.

It's kind of cute, actually, the way Penance slowly crawls from the rubble, just enough to peek up and up and up at the bird-dragon-thing sitting on the arch. Her reaction can only be described as such:
*headtilt*
But there's more innocent curiosity than fear.
no subject
A strange red person!
This calls for humanity.
She flaps once, twice, and dives neatly, landing about twenty feet away (you can never be too careful; it would probably displease Clark if she ATE this girl).
Downshift to human, and: "Hello?"
Look, she's being friendly!
no subject
The strange red person jerks back into the shadows, blue eyes open wide. She doesn't seem to notice when her hair slices into the rubble, sending chunks of concrete falling to the ground around her.
Then again, she hasn't retreated all the way in either, just watching Lucy carefully.
no subject
Lucy headtilts.
Someone else who doesn't speak much!
:D!
Hesitant wave.
no subject
:|?
More cement chunks are falling with that wave but there are more important things to worry about now! Like PERSON. Dragon-Person!
no subject
Penance is her kind of gal!
She has an apple in her pocket.
...And she starts eating it, because the objective here is to not munch on the interesting stranger.
no subject
And thus, Lucy is suddenly far more likely to also be nice.
There's a bit of scrabbling as Penance inches her way forward, still watching Lucy warily - as much for her own safety as to make sure Lucy wants her closer.
no subject
Lucy shifts up to the other self, tosses down the rest of the apple (they are yummy!), and digs another one out of her other pocket, holding it out.
Friendly smiles don't look good on dragon faces, so she keeps her teeth covered. But the headtilting is vaguely cheerful!
no subject
And then there are APPLES and Lucy is awesomest ever! Penance's headtilt is cheerful right back and she reaches forward to carefully pierce her apple with one finger.
Then it is time for om nom noms.
no subject
Lucy can't help but grin.
And wonder what sort of crazy person is more relaxed when she's all claws-and-wings-and-tail.
Possibly the same sort of person who can cut concrete with her hair. Maybe she's like Clark!
...This requires testing.
Lucy reaches out tentatively with the aim of nudging Penance's hand with the back of one claw, although of course if there looks to be jerking-away-from she will pull back.
no subject
Hand-and-claw make a funny little ticking sound when tapped together but Penance's hand doesn't seem to suffer for it.
no subject
She beams and taps Penance's finger delicately with the point, this time.
The total lack of ouch from the other girl's direction results in much dragonish grinning.
And hee, funny ticking sound!
no subject
no subject
regretting not having expression icons for her other selfenjoying herself, yes.Satisfied that she's not going to end up hurting the funny red girl, she beams again and finally quits tapping her.
A small step back and a downshift, for the sake of introducing herself (talking is difficult with draconic vocal equipment).
"I'm Lucy."
She shifts back up pretty damn quick, though. Penance seems to like her other self better.
no subject
And a smile.
Very, very carefully, Penance lifts a hand and wiggles her fingers curiously in Lucy's direction. Should she be tapping back? Would that be a fun game?
no subject
Lucy touches a hesitant claw-tip to the pointy end of one of Penance's fingers.
...The ways dangerous people amuse themselves are often bizarre.
no subject
DID IT HURT? WAS IT OKAY?
Dangerous people are occasionally utterly adorable.
no subject
Lucy goes :D!
...given how her face is shaped, it's really more like B=8D, but. Details, details.
This whole tapping thing is totally a revelation!
no subject
And then Penance grins and it's such a slow, awkward expression, she's obviously not used to it. Lucy is tappable! She can touch her and no one dies! This is BEST EVER.
*taptaptaptaptap*
Penance is absolutely in love with this new development.
no subject
*taptap*
There is much dragonish beaming to be had here, ohyes.
no subject
Other hand is taken up with the eating of apple, nom nom nom. At least until the core is nearly bare on her finger.
Then it is time for great sadfacing. Oh apple, why?
no subject
Tentative wing-flapping, which is meant to convey I could get you another one!
There are totally orchards nearby. (For a definition of near that works for a girl who flies regularly to Hawaii for pineapples.)
no subject
Lucy, it seems, is way cooler.
Penance smiles and taps a few more times before sitting back, head tilted. Assuming she understood right, she should be getting some yums in a minute.
no subject
She goes.
She comes back.
With pears! And a pineapple. But mostly pears.
There is beaming, and handing-over of fruit.
no subject
squish
It's much softer than an apple. Penance has juice on her face and looks utterly surprised to find it there.
no subject
Guess what Lucy is doing regardless!
no subject
Oh wait, yes, she does. Or at least she doesn't seem to mind, looking up at Lucy with juice dripping down her nose and smiling when the pear isn't taken away. It attacked her but it could still be delicious.
And, upon further exploration including lifting the pear and some very careful nibbling, it certainly is.
no subject
Lucy, unfortunately, doesn't have quite the right oral equipment to enjoy one at the moment, but watching Penance eat is almost as fun! B=8D!
no subject
But eventually the pear is gone and her hands are sticky. And while the red girl doesn't seem particularly put out by this, she is looking up at Lucy from her crouch with a shy smile.
Shy as much as it's lost, anyway. Delicious fruits aside, she still has no idea where she is.
no subject
She steps back a few feet to downshift and speak.
"Want to come home with me?"
And back up to the other self, to wait for an answer.
no subject
Other than blinking and a smile, anyway.
no subject
Still holding the lone pineapple in one
handclaw, Lucy-dragon shrugs a glossy black shoulder and starts walking Kansaswards, in a very come-follow-me way.It can't be that far, right? She can fly it in no time!
no subject
Plus, Lucy is nice.
Very slowly, and some distance away at first, Penance begins to follow, preferring to crawl over and under the rubble than stick to clear streets.
no subject
no subject
Eventually, she gets more careful of that, too, because the falling concrete is kind of a slipping hazard when it comes out of nowhere.
But she's certainly following.
no subject
Also, eventually, there is stopping and holding-out of pineapple.
It is delicious! Penance should have some!
no subject
ksshh!
There! Now they both have half a pineapple! Om nom noms!
no subject
Om nom noms.
