Suki is sitting in the shade of a big beech tree, a little way removed from the buildings and goings on of the main farmstead. It's safe to say that her time at the Cooper Farm has not started very well, what with meeting Sokka and finding out that he's not the one that she left behind at the Western Air Temple, and having to swallow the fact that he's with some other girl here. Hence why she's distinctly unhappy right now.
There are other Sokkas here, allegedly, but she refuses to get her hopes up about that. Meditation hasn't helped at all. So she's just sitting there in her Earth clothes, brooding, and looking nothing like the proud Kyoshi warrior that some folk know her to be.

If, y'know, she could. But Toph means it nicely.
"I left our world the day before the eclipse."
no subject
"I'm from a few weeks after that. I got captured by Azula and her girls after I left you guys on the far side of Serpent's Pass. I was in prison while you were in Ba Sing Se, and during the invasion too. Sokka and Zuko broke me out the day before I got sent here."
no subject
And was telling the truth, as well. Toph knows these things.
"So what was going on when you left us?"
no subject
"You were all camped at the Western Air Temple. Aang was learning firebending from Zuko so he could face the Firelord before the comet arrived."
She shrugs (noisily?).
"Um, that's it really. It seemed like you were just kind of waiting for Aang to be ready."
no subject
Toph leans back again. "We'll probably still be waiting when I get back."
no subject
"That depends on when you get back," she points out. "From what I gathered from Sokka on our trip from the Boiling Rock, he's learning fast. There's a pretty big deadline on mastering it after all."
She's glad to hear that Toph expects to get back. That gives her hope.

Toph should really pay more attention at strategy meetings.
"What deadline?"
no subject
"Uh. Sozin's Comet? Crazy extra power for all firebenders? Certain doom for the rest of the world?"
no subject
Toph sounds rather incredulous as well. "Twinkletoes'd be crazy to go up against the Fire Lord with the comet going."
no subject
Suki bites her lip.
"I think the hope is that Aang'll be ready before the comet comes."

"I think he'll master it in time. He's the Avatar. He can learn a bit faster than normal 'benders I suspect."
no subject
Suki's Earth Kingdon; she'll understand.
no subject
"Earthbending is almost the opposite of Airbending though, right? That was probably the hardest one for him to master. Fire might be easier."
no subject
Toph insults her friends because she loves them.

Smirking kindly, she pats Toph's knee.
"Not as good as you, of course. But we can't have everything."
no subject
"He's probably all right."
no subject
Suki lies back into the grass, hands behind her head.
"How long have you been here?"
no subject
It was cold and Toph got frostbite.
"Is it late summer now?"
no subject
She looks up at the nearby tree foliage and makes a judgment.
"I think so?"
"I've been in a big city in Japan for the last few weeks." And there was no real way to tell what time of year it was in that devastated urban jungle. "I only got here last night."
no subject
Then, "where's Japan?"
no subject
"It's a massive one. It took us hours and hours to get over it in Zinda's plane."
no subject
"I don't want to imagine being in that thing."
no subject
"Smooth ride, except when there was turbulence. And there were beds and showers and things. But it was made of metal, so... yeah, I doubt it's very good for the seeing with your feet thing."
