"Whatever, Brainiac," Toph says, handwaving expressively.

"Unless you can get me back before the invasion."

"Sorry. I want to go home, too. But the transfers aren't predictable, and I don't know any other way."

"Meh," says Toph.

Yes, she actually says Meh. That's how mature she is.

"not much good then, is it?"

Toph slow-claps for that. "Nice one."

"To this house from Florida," she explains patiently. "Florida was unsafe."

"Really?"

Toph's nearly the wrong sort of interested in that. Something she could fight?

"Why?"

"Things in the water. It was close to the ocean, and the ocean's unsafe. Kansas is inland. No sea monsters."

"I hate sea monsters," Toph says irritably. "Unless they're attacking Fire Nation ships. Then they're OK."

"I don't think those sea monsters have ever attacked Fire Nation ships."

But they might at some point in the future!

"Then they're the crappy kind," Toph decides. "I like things you can hit with rocks."

"There are those," she offers. "I don't know where. Not in Kansas, for the most part."

"Actually, there are lots of things to hit with rocks here," Toph says conversationally. "If they tick me off enough."

"I meant the monster sort."

"Oh."

Toph deflates again. "Well, they'll turn up. Then you'll all be glad you have the world's greatest Earthbender on your side."

She never gets tired of referring to herself like that.

"That we would, if they did," agrees Inty.

Especially since Toph is this world's only Earthbender at the moment.

Toph smirks again, and graciously says, "and I guess knowing when they're going to come would help too."
