Dean's done with the library. Done with the whole stupid city. He's got a carful of books and no intention of hanging around any longer.
But he's also got to find Jack, Jo and Rachel, and he doesn't really know where to start. He's heading down the street in the vague direction of Jo's hole-in-the-wall apartment, hoping the others will somehow be there too.
They've got work to do.

"Today, probably. I got nothing more I need from here. Gotta find Jo first."

If she goes at all, really.

She waves him down instead.
"This is Tobias," she says, eyes up and watching him spiral.

He stares at Dean.
no subject
"Friend of yours?"
He's always thought birds were creepy little bastards.

And pauses, glancing at Tobias before looking back at Dean. "Actually, I could see how you might think that."
Being DEAN and all.
"He's a friend, yeah. From my world."
no subject
Dean just keeps getting stared at.

"Obviously, he can sense you're a smartass that shouldn't be taken too seriously," Rachel replies, answering both of them at once. "Dean has a job he wants to take care of back at the farm where Lucy lives. We're invited to tag along."
She's still not sure why but she wasn't about to say no when he brought it up.

It will also let him keep an eye on Dean. WHO BETTER NOT BE TRYING TO MAKE A MOVE ON TOBIAS' GIRLFRIEND.

He eyes them now suspiciously. "What's Tobias do?"
Why should Tobias come?
no subject
She glances at Tobias again at her side and frowns, giving him a small nod. "...all right. We're both coming. I don't know where Jo or Jack are, though."
no subject
<You want me to find them?> Jo he knows. Jack... well, someone can describe Jack.
no subject
"Does he talk? At all? Or just drop reconnaissance notes scratched in bird-prints?"
no subject
"He talks to people worth talking to. If you don't want us to go, you can say so." She tilts her head toward Tobias, though her gaze doesn't leave Dean. "No, you don't have to look for them. I'm sure Dean doesn't want help."

Then he turns his stare back to Dean. Now he knew who the guy reminded him of: Marco.

"I don't work with strangers," he informs Rachel. "You oughta know that. Don't worry about comin'."
no subject
Dean will just see her scowl.
"Fine," she snaps, grabbing the bottle by her side and standing. "I didn't realize you and Jack were best friends now. Have fun."
no subject
He shoots a last look at Dean. <Asshole,> he says privately so Rachel won't hear him.

Christ, Rachel is crazier than ever.
